Mission Statement
Change in Uniform Supplier Coming 2018-2019!
As many of you know, SJN has partnered with Parker Uniforms for many years to be our exclusive uniform provider. Over the past year, we have seen an increase in frustrations with customer service at Parker. Many families experienced exceptionally long wait times in store and when shipping items ordered online and little or no stock available for purchase in uniform items.
After many families contacted me with concerns, I began conversations with our School Advisory Council and other archdiocesan principals that centered around identifying a new school uniform provider. I am happy to share that we have partnered with a new uniform supplier to begin the 2018-2019 school year, and exciting updates will be made to our uniform!
I am still in the process of finalizing uniform options with the new company, but I wanted to share this information with you as I realize many of you may be planning ahead and are looking to purchase items for the upcoming school year. At this point, I can share that many of our basic uniform options will remain the same. Many uniform items that may have been purchased at Parker or another supplier will still be acceptable to wear with our updated dress code. In the coming weeks, I will share exactly what will be changing in our dress code as well as procedures and expectations as we move away from Parker Uniform supplied items to updated required uniform items from our new uniform supplier.
I am excited to share these new uniform options with you, and I anticipate improved customer service and offerings to our school families! I appreciate our School Advisory Council in offering assistance during this process. Please keep me posted if you have questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Natalie Johnson
Principal

THANK YOU!
Dear Parents and Families:
Mrs. Sue would like to thank all of our school families for their awesome support of our annual book fair. We raised just over $1,500 for our school this year! Where does the money go from there you might ask? Directly back to our library and our students! The profits from our sale are used to purchase more titles for our school library. Thanks again for your support of this wonderful program!
Current Care & Share Totals are Being Sent Home Today, Please Contact Mrs. Hope in the Office if You Have Questions.
Classroom Christmas Parties
For our gift exchange this year, each student in grades Pre-K 3 through 5 are asked to bring an age-appropriate book for his or her grade level (wrapped) as a gift. The books should not exceed $7.00 in value. Our Book Fair is a great place to shop for your gift! Please send your book wrapped to school with your student on the morning on 12/21.
The Middle School gift exchange will be a crazy sock exchange. The socks could go to either a boy or girl, depending upon the outcome of the game we play to exchange the gifts. We encourage you to spend no more than $10 on the socks. Please send your sock gift wrapped to school with your student on the morning on 12/21.
Advent Journey Color Posters
POSTER 5: THE CHRISTMAS STORY
From the decree of Emperor Augustus to Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem, to the birth of Jesus, shepherds, angels and more, our fifth poster walks people through the Christmas story. Surrounding the illustrated story, we find scripture references that tell different portions of the biblical prophecies and promises of the Christmas story.
Scripture found in poster: Isaiah 9:2,6, Luke 2, Titus 2:11, and John 1:14
Helpful Information from the CDC on Flu Prevention
With the holidays approaching and hearing of several people who have come down with
flu-like symptoms I thought I would share the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control.
The single most effective way to prevent the flu is with immunization. CDC still
recommends one taking the vaccine even now. There are additional ways to assist in
not spreading this disease.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are
- Stay home when you are sick. If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. This will help prevent spreading your illness to others.
Cover your mouth and nose. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when
coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.
Clean your hands. Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. If
soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
Practice other good health habits. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be
physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.
A gentle reminder about school uniform policies...
It’s important for all children to wear practical, modest, clean and safe clothing. Students are growing-- please check skirt and pant lengths to make certain items aren't too short.
Here’s a list of some of the items that are prevalent which aren’t allowed. Not everything which isn’t allowed is on the list, so if you are in any doubt, please ask or check our school dress code policies.
Clothing
- patterned tights (print or texture)
- long-sleeve undershirts under short sleeve polo or PE shirts
- Coats and jackets that aren't SJN Fleece or logo-sweatshirt cannot be worn in the classroom.
- Knee patches on pants that aren't navy
- Ugg boots or similar, dress shoes with a heel. (please note: only flat heeled shoes are allowed Children)
- No-show socks
- No make-up is allowed
- Fake tattoos
- If ears are pierced, only one pair of studs may be worn for safety reasons
- Hair bows and headbands that aren't in outlined colors
- Hairbands worn on wrists
- Loom bracelets
A Good Rule for following the dress code policy: If you question if you should wear it, you shouldn’t.
