Monitoring Grades: Canvas vs. ParentVUE

Due to distance learning this year, students & teachers are exclusively working in Canvas. This is where assignments, student progress, teacher feedback & grades are being shared. ParentVUE, which you may have used in past years, is only updated with a class grade every 4 weeks.

If you have not set up an observer account to review your student's class progress in Canvas please follow these instruction or watch the video below. Parent Canvas Instructions

Mental Health Supports

Students needing mental health support during these challenging times can receive support virtually.

Multnomah County's Student Health Center continues to provide counseling services through virtual & phone appointments. If you want to help your student get connected, reach out to their school counselor for a referral.

Native/Indigenous High School Student Group

A district-wide weekly meeting of Native/Indigenous students happens every Tuesday @ lunch 11:55-12:45. They will be incorporating traditional teachings of health, wellness, well being & stress reduction.

This is a collaboration between PPS, Indian Education, NAYA & NARA.

Please encourage your student to attend via Google Meet Nickname - PPS Native Students

Black Youth Crisis Recovery Group

A district-wide support group for any Black/African American student in PPS is forming. This will be a safe affinity space for Black students to process & unpack the trauma & grief that they may be dealing with as a result of police brutality, opposition to the BLM movement, seeing fellow black people lose their lives without consequence, the pandemic, etc.

For more info contact Maurice Phillips or Jonicia Shelton

Students can register through this FORM.

Our efforts will continue this month. If your senior still needs to complete their FAFSA/ORSAA. Drop-in support will be available on Wednesdays @ 1 (selecting Senior Drop-In button in Canvas) or by appointment with their counselor.

November is National Scholarship Month
