Congratulations to Karen McBride: Centennial's "Teacher of the Year"!
A total of thirty (30!) Edmond educators have been selected to represent their schools as Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year.
“Each one of these teachers has in common a deep-rooted passion to love, encourage and motivate students,” said Superintendent Angela Grunewald. “It’s an honor to recognize them as professionals and as individuals.”
Congratulations to Karen and the full list of EPS T.O.Y. educators!
A Note from Ellie
Last week was a LOT! I know we were all ready for the weekend and we are all grateful that our 4-day weekend / Fall Break is just 3 "wake-ups" away! Woohoo!
Congratulations to Karen McBride for being chosen by her peers as "Teacher of the Year" at Centennial! Many fun events are coming to celebrate Karen!

Thoughts on "Advancing Excellence" and "Atomic Habits":
Chapter 1 Summary: Tiny habits are just like compound interest; overtime they grow and grow; if they are bad habits, it will hurt you and if they are good habits, it will serve you. If you can improve your life by 1% a day, imagine where you would be In 1 month, 6 months, 1 year... by improving 1% per day and staying focused, you will be 30x better than you are now. Remember that you can heat water to 190, 195, 200 degrees, however you won’t see a transformative difference till it hits 212 degrees! Keep doing the work, the results are coming in a bigger way than you can imagine!
Chapter 2 Summary- All of our habits are created in systems that have become comfortable. So, if we want to begin a new habit, or get rid of a bad one, we can't focus on our goals, we have to focus on creating a system to hold our goal together.
Chapter 3 Summary- Don’t focus on outcomes, focus on identity – Before aiming at a goal, ask..does this align with my identity and who I want to be (what I want to be known for)?
