Field Flash
February 25, 2022
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We hope that you have had a nice week! As we move closer to March, we begin to prepare for the 2022-2023 school year. Each year, we provide parents an opportunity to share information about their child(ren), how they learn best, and preferences about peers in their classroom. If you are interested in sharing information, please use this form. You are able to complete this form until April 1st. Thank you for your partnership!
A few reminders:
- Colder Weather: Please be sure your child continues to dress for the weather each day. We instruct students to wear their hats, gloves, mittens, winter coats, etc. Please be sure your child is dressed for outdoor recess. In addition, please begin to think about snow gear (pants, boots). When we have snow, students continue to go outside for recess but can only play on the snow when dressed in pants/boots. As always, label items, please!
- CARES tickets: as part of our building-wise positive behavior system, students can earn CARES tickets. Each Friday, each classroom selects a winning ticket and that student comes down to the office for a small prize. We are so proud of our students and their excellent respectful and responsible behavior! Ask your child about Kindness Month!
- Kiss and Go reminders: Please remember that the Kiss and Go areas are intended for quick drop offs. Adults should remain in the car and students should exit quickly. Please also remember that our parking lot is not available for drop off.
- Parent-teacher conferences: March 3rd is the date of our spring parent-teacher conferences. You should have received information from your child(ren)'s teacher about signing up, if a conference was requested. Please note that not all families will conference this date - so if you have questions, please do reach out to your child(ren)'s teacher to connect.
- No school on Friday, March 4th
I hope you have a safe and healthy weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney Goodman
Principal
Construction for Full Day Kindergarten
- Construction at Field will begin after spring break; as a result, we have some classroom location changes, as well as some arrival and dismissal changes for March-June of this year.
- Both Mrs. Heffelfinger and Ms. Lynch will move classrooms. They will be moving down the hallway (two doors down from our current kindergarten rooms). This move will occur March 11th and students will begin in their new rooms on March 16th. Our kindergarten teachers will share this information soon with both AM and PM classes.
- Mrs. Nagai will be relocating classrooms, as will Ms. Norris. Mrs. Phillipsen and Mrs. Moon will also be relocating. These teachers will also talk with their students about these moves.
- All of our music classes will occur in the classroom from March 16th until the end of the year. (Typically, students travel to the music rooms). Thank you to Mrs. Kapustka and Ms. Kwasny for their tremendous flexibility with this.
- Arrival and dismissal locations will be adjusted for kindergarten and first grade - more details to come on that, including an updated arrival and dismissal map.
- Third grade will have a slight adjustment to their arrival and dismissal, based on the construction fencing.
- Our bus riders will also adjust the doors in which they enter and exit each day - we'll share that closer to March 28th.
- Finally, we will make adjustments to recess, as much of our blacktop and small playground will be closed as part of the construction site.
While March-June will create some challenges for us space-wise, we are thrilled to welcome students to full-day kindergarten in the fall. Thank you in advance for your flexibility as we make these necessary adjustments this March-June.
Channels of Challenge
Let's Be Idle Free
As the weather gets colder, Field School Green Team & Scouts would like to remind you to not idle (let your car's engine run while parked) during pick up and drop off. Turn the Key and be Idle Free- It's better for your car/gas bill, the students' health, and our environment. Check out the Scout's video for more information.
