FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Happy Friday Hawkin’s Families,
Can you believe it’s already December? I have to start by saying a huge thank you to all of our amazing parents. First, I am going to start at the top with the boss, PTO President Lisa Piegdon. What a gift she is to Hawkins. There are not enough words to say thank you for all she does along with our entire PTO board. We are so appreciative of the group of helpers that came in over the break and turned our school into a holiday wonderland. I wish you could have seen the kid’s faces when they walked in on Tuesday morning. To all of the parents that made our Holiday Shop one of the smoothest ever…Thank you! Mike Traicoff is so helpful with morning drop off. He not only helps Hawkins students and directs traffic, but also brings music to make it a little more fun! Cindy Klement, a Hawkins Grandma, comes in every week to help in classrooms. Catherine Keister who stops in the office every week to ask how she can help, and then never complains when we send her on crazy missions. Kahilee Armijo who literally does everything and never asks for any credit. We are also so thankful for our amazing motor moms and dads. I am sure I am missing people, but I just wanted to say THANKS to our amazing parents who make this the special place that it is.
Toys for Tots is coming along great. We have collected over 700 toys on our way to our 1000 goal. A reminder that report cards will be visible on December 5th after 4 pm. Have a great weekend everyone, Go Blue!

- The PTO would like to thank Mr. McAuliffe for creating the huge gingerbread house, which is the centerpiece to our holiday decorations! We are appreciative of all the paras, office staff and luncheon staff that helped create our paper chains and decorations. We would also like to thank all of the volunteers that came out on a Sunday Morning to decorate the entire school for our students.
- PTO Monthly Meeting will be on December 8th at 9:15 in the cafeteria
Holiday Shop make up day will be Monday. The PTO would like to thank ALL of our shopper volunteers and especially Jessica Sisson and Jodi Thompson for organizing the entire event, and Rachel Schwab for volunteering every single day!
- Toys For Tots We are collecting unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots drive, sponsored by Brighton Ford which runs through December 8th. If we reach our school goal of 1,200 toys we will get a popcorn and movie day for the whole school, and the office staff will dress like Santa and his team! Brighton Ford is awarding the first place school $3,000 and we are hoping to win! They are also running another contest where elementary kids have the chance to have their artwork featured on the Brighton Ford billboard. We hear they don't have many entries yet! Counselor Corner
Counselor Corner!
I am so excited to continue working with your students this year to help facilitate and promote growth and learning! I am providing classroom lessons, small group activities, and individual support this school year.
As a reminder, your school counselor is here to support children in all areas of mental wellness that impacts their success in the classroom. We work with individuals as needs arise. If your child is struggling at school, we will work together with the classroom teacher to determine whether or not school-based services would be beneficial. We may also be able to offer resources or contacts if your family believes that outside support will best meet your child's or families needs.
The Elementary Counselor Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have, and I will do my best to support your child.
