Happy New Year!
LEAD 2021 I. Personnel Strategy: We will purposefully hire, continually train, and hold accountable all GCISD staff to ensure the fulfillment of the GCISD mission and strategic objectives. Staff will develop, reflect, and revise an individualized professional learning plan that is uniform throughout the district.
Happy New Year! As we enter the new year, what are your goals and resolutions?
Campus Goals: For the second semester, we will continue to work toward accomplishing our CIP goals (click here to see CIP). CEC reviewed the CIP in November. Learning Leaders will spend part of their meeting this month reviewing progress toward our campus goals.
My personal goals for myself and our campus include:
- Continuing to foster a positive welcoming environment for our students and staff where risk taking is encouraged and embraced
- Using student voice to influence decisions in our classrooms, hallways, and building
- Using the Units of Study in each grade level to create a systematic approach to writing. To foster this goal, each humanities teacher will be receiving their very own Units of Study for Teaching Writing (thank you BES PTA). Additionally, we have a representative from the Teacher's College in New York coming for our February professional learning day.
- Starting CORE visits to learn from the experts on our staff. Learning leaders will be starting CORE visits in January with a focus on writing workshop in the classrooms.
- Taking time to build relationships with staff, students, and families. Be looking for information about our next staff team builder soon!
- Celebrating the GCISD reading challenge with our students and staff
- Use the new Learning Platform Rubric and T-TESS to assist us in our growth toward a learning platform
- Develop students and staff who are skilled problem solvers, collaborative workers, effective communicators, global communicators, and self-regulated learners. Thank you for continuing to use the GCISD Portrait of a Graduate terminology with our Texans! We have received positive feedback for recognizing the traits in our students.
Professional Goals: Over the next few days, you will meet with Jamie or Tonya to revisit your PLP. What goals have you already reached? What goals do you need to add now that you know your students and their needs? What goals to do you have to work on your professional growth? For myself, I am continuing my professional growth through my doctoral journey through Lamar University. All classwork is completed and I begin my dissertation process this month! In addition to my dissertation, I am continuing to learn and understand the positive impact T-TESS can have on our students.
As you prepare your hearts and minds for 2017, think about your goals for yourself, our students, and our campus. What are your goals as a learner? What are your goals for your students? What are your goals for you team? What steps need to be taken to reach those goals? How can we as a staff support you as you strive to reach your goals? Take time out over the next few days to jot down your thoughts to these questions to set your intentions for 2017.
Thank you for all you do as we continue to build an excellent school together!
