CDS - First Program
The Weekly Word from CDS FP - May 7 - May 25, 2018
Looking Back
- Term 5 has been underway since the early May and all has been going great! It's hard to believe, actually, that the end of the school-year is so near!
- We had our term 4 assembly and were happy to see many parents come out and show their support for the wonderful student performances, recognition of student achievement, and slideshows and videos of special events.
- Grade 4s have been introduced to life in middle school. G4s spent some time with MS students, touring MS and getting a glimpse of what they will experience next year. This makes the transition from FP to MS a little gentler, and much more successful.
- Students from Kindergarten to G4 wrote the spring season MAP tests. Kindergarten and Grade 1 students wrote Reading and Math tests. Grades 2, 3, and 4 also wrote those, as well as the Language test. Results of these assessments will accompany the end of the year report card.
- Camping was a blast! Our grade 3s and 4s ate a delicious BBQ put on by the parents. They played collaborative games outdoors such as capture the flag and the low-ropes course challenge. Grade 4s rode horses with Mr. Park. We enjoyed time around the fire making smores. In addition to parent support, it takes approximately ten teachers to pull off and event like this. Thanks to Mr. Tronsgard, Mr. Baker, Ms. Javernick, Ms. Fitz, Ms. Menzel, Ms. Kang, Ms. Roy, Mr. Bray and Principal Shim for dedicating their time and effort to facilitate such a meaningful event for the students. Many of them will remember this their entire lives.
- Uniform Free Friday and Birthday celebrations took place just this past Friday. Thank you to the Grade Level Room Representatives for their support, last week and every month throughout the year. Your efforts help to make the day special for those students celebrating birthdays.
- FP Soccer players attended a soccer jamboree at Chadwick on the 26th. It was successful in a variety of ways: several students, especially our youngest players, experienced for the first time what our soccer tournaments are like, and experienced playing against students from international schools from around Korea; our students were able to demonstrate what they've learned throughout the year and put their skills into play. Great defense, and loads of goals! Well done, FP! As always, a big thank you to the FP PTA for all your support at these events. It's great to see so many moms and dads out cheering on the kids.
