Veterans Day Ceremony
We were honored to celebrate, grandfather to Simone and Robin in Miss Gilroy’s class, Sergeant Paul Deutsch, who served in The United States Army during The Vietnam War. We also honored, father of Evan, in Mr. Goldman and Mrs. Vozza’s class, Staff Sergeant Joshua Maarleveld, who served in The United States Marine Corp during The Iraq War, and currently serves in The United States Marine Corp Reserves.
Our program began with the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a very special performance of The Star Spangled Banner, performed by Mrs. Tadiello's class! We were so grateful to have Sergeant Deutsch, and Staff Sergeant Maarleveld, for volunteering their time to come to Brookside to share their experiences.
Brookside School Participates in Early Childhood Summit!
We know that experiences in the early years of schooling are related to later academic success. The learning and teaching that takes place in prekindergarten through third grades sets the foundation for each student’s future in education and places him or her on a learning trajectory. The day was filled with exploration and reflection on the recent research and tools that have been developed to support Pre-K-3 instruction.
All twelve schools created presentation boards, for a Gallery Walk, showcasing the focus each school has taken from being involved in the Innovations in P-3 Curriculum and Teaching in New Jersey study.
Health Office: Mrs. Parke
COLD vs. FLU
The common cold and seasonal flu are often mistaken for one another because early symptoms of both illnesses can be similar. Both are respiratory illnesses caused by different viruses. Severity of symptoms vary from one person to another, but in most cases, the flu is much more serious than the cold. Flu symptoms can include fever or feeling feverish/chills, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches and fatigue. Cold symptoms are usually milder than the symptoms of flu and generally you don’t develop a fever. People with colds are more likely to have a runny or stuffy nose. Colds generally do not result in serious health problems. Please see links below for further information:
