Week at a Glance
Marian Central Catholic High School Faculty Newsletter

Reflecting on the past week...
We had such an exciting Catholic Schools week at Marian. Thursday's All Deanery Mass was beautiful and it was wonderful to see so many students from the elementary schools looking up to our high schoolers, as well as our high schoolers reminiscing about their elementary school years and seeing their old teachers again. Father's homily on Christ living in all of our activities in all of our lives was especially poignant and it was wonderful to share this year’s theme with the deanery schools.
It was also exciting to see how service plays such a big part in everything that we do from pre-kindergarten all the way through high school. The number of children’s books that were collected through the NHS drive was just amazing.
Finally, the parents Association made us all feel special as they provided treats throughout the week recognizing our staff for teacher appreciation.
What a wonderful week at Marian Central Catholic.
What's coming up?
As you may recall, we moved our Extended Mentor Homeroom from last Wednesday to this coming Monday. This homeroom will have our student mentors helping our freshmen understand how to choose their courses based on interest and graduation requirements as well as how to navigate our new online system for next year. In addition, we are asking that the Sophomore and Junior homerooms report to the auditorium so that Mrs. Hilton and Mr. Kruse can educate them on the online system as well. As of Tuesday morning, the system will go live.... and students will have until February 21 to complete it.
Tuesday brings us the annual IDEA MVP pitch. For those who are not familiar with our IDEA program, our students are over halfway through the year in the entrepreneurial class and are ready to pitch their idea to a board of directors to see if they can get some seed money to create a prototype for their product or service. This will allow them to move their business forward so that by May they’re ready for their final pitch. Sync Shark Tank. Students in the IDEA class will be excused from first through seventh. On Tuesday and we will have several students who are not in the class that have passes to come and watch the pitches as they decide whether they want to choose this course next year. Students in the IDEA class will be excused from first through seventh periods on Tuesday and we will have several students who are not in the class that will have passes to come and watch the pictures as they decide whether they want to choose this course next year. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Mr. Joe White or Mrs. Novy.
This Wednesday brings us our late start meeting and we are starting in the cafeteria promptly at 7:30. Since I am still solidifying our agenda, you will probably receive it on Monday via email. In addition, our SMART Club and Mr. Winkelman are hosting our annual blood drive on Wednesday so if you haven’t had a chance to sign up please do so to donate blood. Please also know that there are students that have signed up to donate and there will be appropriate passes as needed.
Finally, the week round out with several field trips the art music and theater groups are going to see Lion King downtown on Thursday, our Model United Nations team is attending their annual conference downtown and will be leaving Thursday afternoon, as well as missing Friday all day, and Mrs. Dwyer and the Academic Challenge team is competing this Friday, so they will also be out the entire day. Please wish our MUN and Academic Challenge team members good luck on their events and Mr. Price will be forwarding you the student rosters for all of these field trips on Monday.
Have a good week!
