About Coach Sieb...
I have taught elementary PE for the last 11 years in LISD. Prior to this, I coached all sports and taught middle and high school Physical Education.
I have 4 kids and my husband is a Spanish teacher in another district. Our children range in age from 2nd year of college to 2nd grade.
I played college basketball at Henderson State University. Currently I play soccer and build things. This summer I spent my free time renovating the interior of my house. I love to be active and creative.
I am uber excited about starting my second year with Coach Murphy and getting to know more of the kiddos at school.

About Coach Murphy....
Hi there! Here is a little about me.
My name is Martha Murphy and I am one of your Rockbrook PE teachers. I am starting my 20th year in LISD. I started off my teaching career at DeLay Middle School teaching PE and coaching basketball, track & field and soccer. I then moved up to coaching at Lewisville High School and teaching at LHS- North (PE and Health). My last year of coaching at the high school, I was also teaching PE at Valley Ridge Elementary. After getting out of coaching, I had the great pleasure of helping open Rockbrook 13 years ago.
I am a Dallas native. I was fortunate to go to Texas A&M University on a full basketball scholarship. I majored in Kinesiology with a specialization in Sport Management. I received my teaching certification from Texas Woman's University, as well as, my masters in Adapted Physical Education.
I love spending time with my husband, 2 girls and our dog, Bogey; traveling; spending time with friends and family; and reading. I enjoy swimming, Camp Gladiator and weight lifting.

What to expect in PE
Rockbrook Elementary provides a physical education program that is 50 minutes long and meets up to 2 days per week.
The PE classes are based on promoting positive learning experiences, maximizing student participation in all activities and creating an environment for each child to have the opportunity to be successful.
Our program focuses on fostering a safe, supportive and non-competitive environment. We will work on developing your child’s locomotor, manipulative and stability skills, as well as social skills and cooperative/team-building skills. As the school year progresses, your child will participate in building strength and flexibility, movement games, jumping rope, rhythmic movements, throwing and catching, kicking, and other sport skills.
Our PE program is dedicated to teaching your child how to work cooperatively, play fair, play by the rules and to have a love of physical activity to help them build a foundation for participation in lifetime recreational activities.

FitnessGram Testing 3rd-5th
The Texas Education Agency has mandated annual fitness testing for the state of Texas for all students 3rd-12th grades.
The TEA has selected FITNESSGRAM to serve as the state-wide fitness assessment tool in which all school districts will administer the required tests
FITNESSGRAM was developed by The Cooper Institute to facilitate communicating fitness testing results to students and parents.
The assessment measures three components of health-related physical fitness using criterion referenced standards, called Healthy Fitness Zones, to determine students' fitness levels based on what is optimal for good health. The three components that have been identified as important to overall health and function:
1. Aerobic Capacity
2. Body Composition
3. Muscular Strength, Endurance and Flexibility
Students are encouraged to wear comfortable attire and gym shoes for their testing. Parents will receive a copy of their child's results. Composite results for Lewisville ISD will be sent to the Texas Education Agency as required by law.
*** ROCKBROOK 3rd, 4th and 5th GRADE STUDENTS WILL START TESTING IN OCTOBER****
Give Me 5

Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school program that encourages the availability and consumption of nutrient-rich foods, along with at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity. The program was launched by National Dairy Council and the NFL, in collaboration with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
3 great reasons to join- 1) Feel better 2) Make new friends 3) Make an impact
Here at Rockbrook, we are encouraging all students, staff and parents to sign up and help support this initiative.
CHAMPS procedures, GIVE ME 5 signal and voice levels
What is CHAMPS?
It is a focus on developing a proactive and positive approach to classroom management. The strategies employed are on structuring classrooms for success, teaching behavioral expectations, observing and monitoring trends, interacting positively with students, and correcting behavior fluently.
C stands for CONVERSATION, H stands for HELP, A stands for ACTIVITY, M stands for MOVEMENT, P stands for PARTICIPATION and S stands for SUCCESS.
A CHAMPS plan has been developed at Rockbrook for our common areas like cafeteria, hallway, recess, bathroom and assemblies. We have developed CHAMPS plans to help with moving from one activity to another in PE.
GIVE ME 5
This signal is shown by faculty members by putting a hand in the air and saying "GIVE ME 5". Students are to do the 5 things shown in the green poster below with their body.
VOICE LEVELS
The voice levels mentioned below are taught in PE and in other classes. We tolerate levels 0-4 during activity and expect a level 0 when giving directions and when lining up to leave for the hallway.
FAQs
What if I forget my tennis shoes? For safety reasons, students who do not wear PE shoes to class will be able to borrow a pair of tennis shoes and participate in regular class activities OR will participate in an alternate assignment during the game/activity time if they choose to not borrow shoes.
How do you grade in PE?
Our grading scale is as follows:
