Principal's Letter
Happy New Year Greenbriar Families!
I hope everyone had a restful break and is ready to start the next half of the school year.
We've been busy with MAP benchmarking and many of your students have shown great improvement since the Fall benchmark. The MAP test is a great indicator for the Ohio State Test they will take in the Spring. Please continue to encourage your students to take their time and do well on their MAP testing. Our goal is to get 4 STARS from the STATE, I believe in your students and our teachers that we can and will attain our goal!
January 26th is a no school day for your students as your teachers will continue their work and planning for the new semester.
Have a fantastic January, and always know our doors, phones and email are open to you for any questions. Please see below the flow chart of who to contact for certain questions and or concerns.
- Contact your child's teacher for classroom questions, academics, behavioral issues and anything else that starts and pertains to a specific class.
- Assistant Principal Cook handles all 7th grade discipline and 5th grade House Y.
- Assistant Principal Bram handles all discipline for the 6th grade and 5th grade House X.
- Assistant Principal Greene handles all discipline for the 8th grade and 5th grade House Z.
- Your Guidance Counselors are not grade level assigned and any can be helpful, Ms. Tabaj, Ms. Senger and Mr. Clark. Please reach out to them for questions regarding your child's schedule, mental health concerns or anything you feel your child needs to be successful.
- Officer Curtin is always willing to talk with anyone concerning your student or any police matter. Please feel free to reach out to him.
- As your Principal, I am willing to listen to your concerns, but I ask that you please start with above mentioned staff. More often than not, they deal with your student and know that child.

Julie Valentine Gives Attention to Detail!
If you appreciate attention to detail, then you would LOVE Julie Valentine! We nominated her as our STEM 5 December Student of the Month because of this unique talent. Julie is always ready to learn, giving any peer or adult speaker her full ATTENTION. Julie produces quality work with a level of DETAIL that goes unmatched by her peers. Julie even knows the DETAILS for supporting a healthy relationship with everyone she knows; she is kind, a patient listener, and responsive to how you're feeling. If we gave the same ATTENTION to all the DETAILS about our wonderful Julie Valentine, we would run out of room on this page! She is an overall wonderful human being! Congratulations, Julie Valentine!

STEM 5 Hosts Natural History Museum
On December 21, STEM 5 held a Natural History Museum Capstone. Students researched the question "How do patterns in a relationship affect an ecosystem?" We studied the important parts of an ecosystem, the cause-effect relationships among these parts, and why we should understand and protect our planet's greatest resources. The students then created 3D food webs to demonstrate how the flow of energy moves throughout their ecosystem.
