A Message from our Principal...
Birmingham Families,
We couldn't be more excited about the opening of our new front driveway and front office!!! Here are a few reminders to ensure morning and afternoons move smoothly.
Morning:
*Parents may drop-off in the front of the building---OR---in the loop on the east side of the building.
*Please do not drop-off your child in the middle of the Staff Only Parking lot; this is very dangerous.
*Daycare vans and WISD school buses will drop off in the front of the building.
*Students may enter through the front of the building--OR--on the eastside (Parent Drop-off side) of the building.
*Parents and guests will need to enter through the Front Office Entrance and check-in with campus personnel to receive a Visitor sticker.
Afternoon:
*The Staff Parking lot will be coned off in the afternoons. Therefore, there will be no traffic through this parking lot in the afternoons. This will improve the safety and effectiveness of our dismissal plan.
*Friendly reminder: please keep your child’s car tag visible for staff; this will assist in keeping our dismissal moving smoothly. Thank you!
*All parents who wish to park and walk-up to get their child will need to park in the designated Parent Parking lot and use the sidewalks to meet their child. (Crosswalk will only be used for students crossing to load cars on the inside lane.)
*If you are walking up to pick up your child, please make certain that the teacher on duty is aware of the child leaving with you.
*Only Daycare vans and WISD school buses are allowed to pick-up in the front of the school each afternoon. All other vehicles will use the Parent Pick-up/Drop-off loop.
*Friendly reminder: It is a traffic violation and a safety hazard to park your car in a designated fire lane.
Thank you so much for your smiles and support through this transition!! We are overjoyed by the opening of our new front office and front driveway.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! We can’t wait to see you on Monday, November 26th!!!

A Message from Nurse Abby.....
Enjoy your Thanksgiving break! I am SO thankful for all the BES Bears!
If your child came home in clothes from the clinic, please wash and return after the break. Thank you for your cooperation.
Our WISD policy is that a student must be fever (100.0 or above), vomit and diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of suppressing medications before returning to school.
Please remember to send a refillable water bottle to school with your child, and don’t forget your flu shot!
Stay Healthy,
Nurse Abby

A Message from our School Counselor......
Happy Friday Bears!
As a parent, I am always trying to find ways to instill compassion in my children. The months a November and December gives us many opportunities to have these conversations. I am providing a link about Raising a Compassionate Child for you to read. So many great tips and food for thought! https://www.parenting.com/article/raising-a-compassionate-child
Guidance for the month of November:
Kinder- WHO program will begin the week after Thanksgiving. A letter went home to all Kinder parents explaining this program earlier this week.
1st and 2nd grade- These grades were able to enjoy the Kids Count Players earlier this month. You should have received a flyer last week on how to talk to your child about staying safe.
3rd Grade - Third graders will be learning about perseverance and using their grit. Students will brainstorm things that they can do now that they once thought were impossible, and discuss what they did that made the "impossible" possible.
4th Grade- We have begun our unit on College and Careers. Students will be researching different careers and colleges over the next several sessions. It is never too early to start thinking about their future!
Wylie Way Christmas: Please see the flyer at the beginning of Paw Prints to help a WISD student during this Christmas season! As of noon today, we still have 8 tags remaining at Birmingham and a little over 300 remaining in the district. As always, we appreciate your generosity!!`
Upcoming Wylie Way Dates:
December 5- Wylie Way Christmas Gifts due to Birmingham
December 12: Relationships Day (more info coming)
November 26-December 14- Safety Patrol (Blue Group)
