MCAA Rocket Report
February 22
Principal's Message
Greetings MCAA Families,
What a wonderful past few weeks! We remained engaged in instruction and started additional support small groups and some new enrichment clubs. Our Lego Robotics team took their work to Georgia Tech and Our Drama Club put on an incredible show that still has me singing the Annie soundtrack! We took a few field trips, spread kindness on Valentine's Day and kicked off Black History Month with some fun activities. Congratulations on our door decorating contest winners! In the coming weeks following break, we will have auditions for next year's Drama club, our 5th graders will visit Starbase Academy at Lockheed Martin, and much more.
I hope your family is finding time to rest and recharge this week in preparation for warmer weather and all the busy that accompanies Spring schedules. As always, never hesitate to reach out if I can support your child and/or family in any way. We are grateful for this amazing community and and proud of all we have accomplished together this year!

If you have questions, please join MSGA's administration and MCAA's administration for a Rising 6th Grade Q&A February 29th at 8:00 a.m. We will offer pastries and coffee in the MCAA conference room and be available to answer questions.
MCAA Spring Book Fair
It's time for our spring book fair. Our book fair will run from March 4th through March 8th from 8:30-4:30 daily. You can shop now at the online fair by clicking the link here!
Renovation Updates
Full demo and construction will begin following the last day of school. We will continue to operate as usual, maximizing instruction until then. However, I do want to make you aware of a few logistics/student travel through the building you may hear about or see on campus as prep work will begin as early as Spring break.
- A temporary road will run from Aviation along the back of the Science Lab Building for construction equipment. This should have no impact on arrival or dismissal.
- There will be a few changes in how we travel through the building. We will not use the back breezeway after Spring Break (April 8). Demo will occur during Spring Break in preparation for the hallway that will be constructed to connect all buildings. A covered sidewalk has been poured outside of the media center and will be used in April and May to travel from the main buildings to the specials building. 5th graders will enter through the doors at the front of the 5th grade building during arrival. Science labs will be accessed through the front door of the science building as needed.
- Awards days will be held off campus – exact location and times TBD

In the Spring, our students will take a series of end of year assessments. While MAP is an adaptive assessment and provides a norm reference score, the Georgia Milestones (GMAS) is an end of grade standards based criterion referenced assessment. Please see the Spring testing schedule below. We will host a parent information session on March 20th at 8:00 a.m. Join us in the conference room to learn more and/or have your testing questions answered.
