Free & Reduced Lunch Application - We Need Your Help!

Apply for Free & Reduced-Price Meals for Additional Benefits

While Northshore is currently providing free meals, qualifying for free and reduced-price meals provides families additional benefits. Please see details and more information about how this information supports programs accessible to students at Woodin Elementary.

Details:

  • Woodin is one of the elementary schools in Northshore that benefits from the federal funding called Title I funding.

  • At Woodin, we use the funding to support extra instruction in reading, a math specialist, evening events for families, professional development for staff, and instructional materials for our students and staff.

  • At the secondary level, eligibility for free or reduced-price meals includes additional benefits, such as reduced fees for PSAT and Advanced Placement Testing, sports/athletics, summer school and more.

  • Important Note: Please know that the number of eligible students for free and reduced-price meals connects to the Districtโ€™s Title I funding, which provides additional support at schools to help students succeed. In order to continue to receive this funding, we need your help!

Here is how you can help:

Confidentiality:

  • All free and reduced lunch status is kept confidential and your information is not shared with any organizations outside the Northshore School District Food Services Department.

Note: If your family qualified last year, you must reapply this year. Additionally, if your family income has decreased, you may be eligible for free or reduced-price school meals.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding Title I funding, please ask Principal Bowers or Assistant Principal Lenz.

In partnership,

Dawn Bowers

PTA News

Fall Festival Update

Thank you, thank you to all of the families for coming out to the Fall Festival and supporting Woodin. What a fun and fabulous time we all had. It was so great to see all of us come together and laugh and enjoy being together again. We loved seeing all of the costumes, watching the kids run, and of course all of the cool dance moves.

The PTA is so thankful for all of the donations we received from the fun run fundraiser that we are proud to say we exceeded our fundraising goal! Excited for all of the wonderful programs and activities this will fund. You wildcats are AMAZING!

We want to congratulate the winning classrooms for fundraising the most in each grade. These classrooms earned a special ice cream party from the PTA:

  • Kindergarten - Walsh
  • 1st Grade - Angell
  • 2nd Grade - Ratti
  • 3rd Grade - Schwartz
  • 4th Grade - Hettle
  • 5th Grade - Dixey/Merritt

We also want to make sure every classroom knows how appreciated they are for the amazing fundraising each and every one of you did... so each classroom earned a special visit from the PTA for a special gift! Thank you, families!

**Spirit Wear is coming soon! Watch for ordering information to be online November 15th!

PTA REFLECTIONS CONTEST

PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity. Students of all grades and abilities may participate by submitting original pieces of work in 6 categories (Dance, Musical Composition, Visual Arts, Film, Literature and Photography) against the theme of "I Will Change the World by...".

Students will create their work of art AND write a short artist statement. Judging is based on both the artwork and artist statement.

Our PTA can send 20 Reflections art pieces to Northshore Council PTSA in December. Those students' works of art will be celebrated at a district open house in January. Council will judge the pieces in each category and some pieces will continue onto State PTA and National PTA for further judging. Regardless of where a student places, our PTA will celebrate any student artist who submits a piece of art for Reflections.

Pieces are due to our PTA by November 30th. For any questions, please ask Crystal Affolter, caffolter@nsd.org

For more information and students' packets (rules and forms) go to http://www.northshorecouncilptsa.org/reflections.html (make sure you scroll down the page to see the student packet links in each category).
