Navigating School Closings and Your New Normal

Date: 4/20/2020 Volume 5

Dear Klein ISD Parents & Students,

In these strange times, we can expect that kids are waking up on the wrong side of the bed and feeling anxious. The KISD Intermediate Lead Counselors will be collaborating to create a weekly newsletter offering some suggestions for a daily routines, ways to decrease stress and cope with the ever changing world. As always, if you have any questions or needs, email your child's counselor. All counselors are working remotely and providing office hours.

We miss you!

Mindfullness Activities

During these hard times, we know it can be difficult to have a growth mindset. Let us remind you of what you are capable of and why it's important to continue to do your work.

Families Finding Fun

We know that both kids and parents are experiencing a gamete of emotions during this time. One of the things we can do as parents it to be leaders in the home and engage our children in conversations and other activities that encourage positive coping skills. We want to give everyone an opportunity to express themselves, identify those feelings they may be having, spend time connecting as a family, and navigate our new normal.

The Zoo

There are so many amazing online options when it comes to zoos that we couldn’t narrow it down to just one. Most zoos have live webcams in some of their most popular exhibits, such as the Houston Zoo. However, some zoos offer a more in-depth look. You’ll definitely want to check out the San Diego Zoo. Their site for kids includes behind-the-scenes videos and stories, as well as a variety of printable activities and online games.
