Message from the Principal
Dear RMS families,
In the first three weeks of school, Ridgeline students have learned and built habits around the routines and procedures of school. They have learned about our STORM values. They have learned what it means to be Successful, Trustworthy, Organized, Respectful, and Motivated in both schoolwide and classroom routines, procedures, and expectations.
Students have also learned about STORM time, which occurs after Homeroom on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. They have learned how teachers will sign them up to get extra help in classes where they need more support or challenge. Students know now what their options are if they do not get signed up for a class, which is to do independent work in the commons or to do silent reading in the library. STORM time, four days per week, is a dedicated time for helping and supporting the academic learning and growth of our students.
On Wednesdays, students have learned that Homeroom time is dedicated to RMS Family Meetings, which is a 25 minute time to check in with Homeroom teachers and build skills in social and emotional learning, character and leadership, and college and career awareness.
In the most recent RMS Family Meetings, students signed the STORM Pledge, an invitation to commit to embodying the STORM qualities and values in school and life. Students received an RMS Family t-shirt that reads, “Everybody is Somebody at Ridgeline.” We invite students and staff to wear their RMS Family t-shirts every Wednesday at school.
On Fridays, we invite staff and students to wear any gear or swag with their favorite college, community college, technical school, or military academy to support our efforts to build awareness and plans for a high school and beyond plan.
There are also now grades in the gradebooks, and students are learning that they get their grades printed out every Monday in Homeroom. They staple their grades into their planners so they know what classes they need to be mindful of improving in that week.
We are seeing lots of learning in the RMS Family over the first few weeks of school! We appreciate our parents also learning about our systems so that they can help their children succeed. Please use the above information to check in with your student about STORM Time, RMS Family Meetings, and their grades in each class. We look forward to partnering with parents in student success!

College Bound Scholarship WA
Your child may be eligible to sign up for the College Bound Scholarship! This early promise of financial aid is funded by the state of Washington to encourage students to dream big and continue their education after high school.
What does the scholarship pay for?
College Bound combines with other state financial aid to cover the average tuition (at comparable public colleges), some fees, and a small book allowance. It is not a “full-ride” scholarship. Other college costs--such as room and board, transportation, and personal expenses--will be the student and family's responsibility. These could be covered by a combination of the family’s funds and federal grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study.
Who is eligible to apply?
Any 7th or 8th grade student who meets one or more of the following requirements is eligible to apply:
· Their family meets the income requirements as listed in the brochure or on www.collegebound.wa.gov.
· They are a foster youth or a dependent of the state.
· Their family receives basic food or TANF benefits.
How can my child sign up?
Apply Online (available in English and Spanish) or print an application form and Q&A in multiple languages.
Remember, the deadline to apply for College Bound is June 30 at the end of a student's or the student's 8th grade year. Students only have to apply once even if they move or change schools in Washington.
To learn more, visit www.collegebound.wa.gov, call 888-535-0747 (Option 1), or email collegebound@wsac.wa.gov.
