Whitford Catholic Primary School
Newsletter 23 - 1 August 2018
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
It is so nice to be back at school and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Andrew De Maio for his positive leadership during my absence. I know the school has been in very good hands and it has been such a pleasure hearing from staff and students about all the great things that have been happening around the school during this time. Many thanks also to Mr Geoff Clarke and Mrs Cath Hughes who have ably assisted Andrew in their capacity as Assistant Principals.
Plenary Council 2020
Parents attending Parish masses may already be aware of the invitation from the Bishops to participate in the Plenary Council 2020 Listening and Dialogue process. This is the first time in 80 years that we have been invited to speak boldly and freely about our experiences of church and living our life in faith. I invite all families and staff to participate and recommend that each of us contribute and share our thoughts on the future of the Catholic Church in Australia.
I look forward to facilitating some focus groups throughout the remainder of this year and in the meantime, invite staff and parents to visit plenarycouncil.catholic.org.au and join the conversation! We have until March 2019 so now is the perfect time to dialogue and listen to each other with open and humble hearts.
Together, we are on a journey of listening to God by listening to one another.
40th Anniversary and Blessing of Whitford Catholic Primary School
It is exciting to note that we have now set the date to bless our new school buildings and celebrate our 40th Anniversary during a school mass on 5th September. Please check further information in this newsletter.
Holy Communion
Many blessings to all our Year 4 students receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion this weekend. Being welcomed by the parish to fully participate in the Eucharist is such a special time for all. Thank you to parents, staff and the parish for supporting the children in their preparation and faith development.
Congratulations to all students involved in the Performing Arts Festival, Sports Carnivals and learning in their classrooms. They are all doing an amazing job and remind us every day of how privileged we are to be working with such great little students!
Many blessings and best wishes for the week ahead.
