Matanzas Blue Steel
What's Happening?
Back to School!
Students are flocking back to the Matanzas Blue Steel Pan Yard (where we practice)! You will notice a slightly different schedule this year, the advanced classes will meet for the 3rd, 4th and 5th blocks of the day, as skinny periods, for 48 minutes each. The 1st two blocks of the day will meet for an hour and a half, every day, but only until the semester break at the beginning of January. At that time, the two beginning classes will merge into one advanced class, meeting 1st block, and a new beginning class will start during the 2nd block.
With this new schedule we will see three FAST MOVING classes! All three advanced classes will be working on music for the Virginia Beach Pan Fest, which will happen Thursday through Sunday, May 5 - 8. This trip is not mandatory, but we will all be working towards a successful trip, so I think most students will choose to be involved. We will be looking for volunteer chaperones as well, so please let me know if you are interested!
