Greetings PLA Families,

Happy Friday! Our teachers and scholars have been busy this week preparing for the final assessment of the year. Our NWEA testing resumes on Monday. This is a benchmark assessment that measures scholar growth. It is taken three times a year to track scholar progress. We will conclude with NWEA testing on Friday, May 27th.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We would like to thank Mrs. Schnarr for visiting classrooms this month to educate our scholars on the importance of mental health awareness. To support our efforts in educating scholars we are hosting a door decorating contest at school and would like our scholars to wear GREEN on Friday, May 20th.

The 500 Festival kids day takes place downtown in Indianapolis on Sunday, May 15th. This is a community event that is fun for all ages. For more information use the following link:

FINAL NOTICE:Human Growth & Development™ is a puberty education program for 4th - 6th graders. This program is endorsed by the Indiana University School of Medicine as a high-quality, medically accurate, and fact-based program that positively informs youth about their growing and changing bodies. Programming is facilitated by LifeSmart Youth, Inc.’s degreed, professional Health Educators. We will be hosting this program at school on Friday, May 20th. Parent consent forms were sent home on Monday, May 2nd and Monday, May 9th.

We are excited to welcome a new program to PLA@93 next year. City Connects is a partnership with the Indianapolis Mayor's Office, Phalen Leadership Academies, and Marian University. A new staff member will be hired to provide resources and services to families. Part of this process involves a parent survey so that we can gain information on how best to serve you. Please take a moment to complete the confidential City Connects survey below. Your voice is critical to this process. To change the survey language, please use the drop down menu on the top right of the survey. The survey will remain open through today, Friday, May 13th.

Our yearbooks have arrived! We have less than twenty copies remaining. If your scholar would like to purchase a copy, they are first come first served. The cost is $14 each.

There is still time to register for Summer Advantage. The deadline has been extended for you to register your scholar and receive transportation to and from school.
