Lincoln School News
March
Message from Mrs. Hawkins
Lincoln Families and Friends,
After a long winter, it is great to see some warm weather as we finish the 3rd quarter of the school year. Many of the COVID restrictions are being lifted and we are making steps to return to a more normal end of the school year. Here are a few events coming in the next few weeks that will give us an opportunity to gather as a school community.
End of 3rd quarter Celebration Stations, March 24th
4th grade Kindness Retreat, March 23rd
PTO Open Gym for April
Many grade level field trips an planned
Spring Music Concert, May 2nd, performance will include 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and choir
Another sign of changing times is the reinstatement of visitors to the school starting April 4th. Please remember to bring your driver's license and check in at the office and call ahead if you are staying for lunch. The 2nd through 5th grade students eat lunch in the classrooms and the kindergarten and 1st grade students eat lunch in the cafeteria. Because of space limitations and potential food allergy concerns, we will have all adult visitors eat in the cafeteria with their student. Please consider trying our school lunch program. It is an amazing value and very healthy.
April is also the month for the MCAs. Students in grades 3-5 will be assessed in reading and math and 5th grade students will also be assessed in science. The information we get from these assessments will give us valuable information on how our current instruction is working. We know there have been gaps in learning over the past two years and it will be helpful to see how our students are doing.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at one of the spring events.
Mary Hawkins, Principal

Classroom Input Forms
As we prepare for the next school year, our staff takes a tremendous amount of time
and thought in developing classroom placements. There are many variables to keep
in mind including balance of gender, relationships, student academic needs, overall
enrollment, social and leadership skills, and much more. Ultimately, we strive to create
classroom placements that will enhance each child’s opportunity for success. If parents want
to share specific information about their child that would be helpful in this process, they must
complete a Classroom Input Form. Parents will need to pick up these forms from the
Lincoln Office and return them before Friday, April 14. We will take parents’ input into account, but we need parents to use this written process as we must have the information.
