Parents/guardians may eat lunch with your child only. You will need a driver’s license or other form of ID when you check in at the front office.

If your child's transportation method is changing this week, please let me or the office know before 2:00.

We are running low on snacks!! Please feel free to contribute to our classroom snacks. We have 20 students. You can drop them at the front office or have your student bring them to class!

Snack examples:

  • packaged Goldfish
  • fruit snacks
  • pretzels
  • popcorn

Spelling List 2:

We will have a spelling test each Friday over words that include the phonics content we have been learning. We will have 3 spelling tests per phonics module. I will be grading each spelling test, but will only post the highest grade of the 3 tests in the gradebook for each module.

This week we will test over the following 6 spelling words. We will practice spelling these words throughout the week and I will also be sending home a copy of the spelling list on Monday for extra practice!

1. an

2. bad

3. can

4. nap

5. cat

6. pan

Sight Words

Our goal as a whole first grade team is to be able to recognize and read Fry's first 100 sight words by the end of the school year. For the first nine weeks of school we will be focusing on only the first 25 words and students will be tested individually over these words in mid-October. I sent home a copy of the first 25 sight word flashcards with your child on Monday, August 21st!

I recommend only introducing 5 words at first and adding more as they are able to fluently read the words.
