February Newsletter
Greetings From the Director
I love my job and I hope you do too! We have the opportunity to shape the future. Who could ask for a better job?
Last week I had the opportunity to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC. I wish EVERYONE could go and revisit the history of people of color. From the Middle Passage to slavery, the Civil War to Reconstruction, Sit Ins, Marches and The Black Panther Movement, Scottsboro Boys, Emmit Till and more....so much more. Names I knew and many, many more I didn't. The museum experience is just one more reason why I love my job- we learn EVERY DAY not just from books or journal articles but from our students and our colleagues. I challenge each of you to learn something new today. Open the door to a student today, challenge the status quo, stretch your thinking. Almost a week later, I'm still thinking about the NMAAHC. Thinking about what I learned and what I didn't know, thinking about professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators in Region 3 and thinking about our children. Let's continue to grow together.
Life affords no greater responsibility, no greater privilege, than the raising of the next generation.
