April Newsletter

From the Desk of Mr. Coakley

Finally, the snow is starting to melt a little. We might see some grass by the end of April and some May flowers. We want to send out a little reminder to not drop off your child(ren) before 7:00 am. All children that arrive to school before 7:20 must report to the cafeteria and remain there until 7:20. We ask if parents drop their kids off that they do not linger in the building. All parents must exit by 8:00 a.m.

Flanders would like to thank everyone for coming to the Academic Showcase and Book Fair. It is events like this that I look forward to attending and seeing the student’s work and how proud they are to show it off. This year we had and outstanding turn out. Thank you!

The early release date for report card conferences will be Tuesday, April 24th. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 AM that day. Parents who are asked to meet with their child’s teacher will be contacted by them directly and receive their child’s report card when they come in for their conference.

The end of the year is fast approaching. Please take a moment to remind your children to continue to do their job here at Flanders and finish the year strong. Thank you for all your support

February 27th marked the 100th Day of School! We are wearing our "Thumbs Up to 100 Days" t-shirts which have 100 thumbprints each. We also made 100 hundred day trail-mix and 100 day necklaces with 100 beads each! We are most proud of our 100 Day Commitment to Our Community. We set a goal to collect 100 cans of food for the local food shelf, and with the help of so many people, we collected a total of 136 cans !!

Mrs. Hazen's class welcomes Miss Cayea to our room. We are excited about spending the upcoming weeks with her!

Happy April, Spring is approaching! Allergy season is upon us! Allergies can cause a multitude of symptoms including sniffling, sneezing, coughing, itchy eyes, post nasal drip, headaches and earaches, to name a few. Be sure to consult with your doctor about the best treatment options. Be sure to take prescribed medications as indicated to get your day started right

Start thinking about sunscreen! As t-shirt weather approaches, don't forget to be prepared with sunscreen. That first seasonal sunburn is the most damaging to the skin and can surprise you even on a cool spring day. Apply every few hours for the most effective coverage. In addition, wear hats and sunglasses to protect you from the sun's rays.

Please notify me if your child has had any new medical concerns.

School Nurse REMINDER to Students Entering 6th Grade: All students entering 6th grade MUST HAVE proof of having 2 varicella vaccines and a booster immunization known as Tdap. As soon as you obtain proof of immunization, please bring it to the Health Office. Your child will not receive a schedule of classes until proof is received. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 518-483-7803 ext 2.

Happy Spring!
