The office is in full swing of the 4-H afterschool program as we wrapped up Blue Hill and getting ready to start Red Cloud this month. As we are prepping for Achievement Night in November, don't forget to get your Diamond Clover and Achievement applications in by October 3rd!!

Achievement & Diamond Clover Applications
If you missed the help zoom and still have questions, please feel free to reach out to Beth, Katie, or myself via email or phone call- we are happy to help you! All of the awards listed below are due no later than October 3rd.
- Achievement Application Awards (please see on the weekly email): Using the Adobe Fillable Forms and saved as a PDF. Submit the document to Alexa (alexa.pedersen@unl.edu). Please submit with the File Name of: Youth’sFirstName LastName 2022Webster. A printed hard copy dropped off to the Webster County Extension Office by 4:30 pm or computer submission by midnight in a PDF or .docx format (submitting as an email is not allowed). These awards can go towards (depending on age requirements):
- Tribland Outstanding 4-Her Nominee
- 4-H Ambassador
- Outstanding Webster County 4-Her in the junior, intermediate, and senior division.
- Diamond Clover Applications: The Nebraska 4-H Diamond Clover program encourages 4-H youth to engage in a variety of programs, projects, and activities that will enable youth to acquire skills and abilities that will prepare them for success in the future. The program is designed to reach and recognize all youth engaged in 4-H, from club members and campers to school enrichment, afterschool, and special interest program participants. We encourage ALL Webster County 4-H members to complete and submit these applications. Winners will be announced at Achievement Night on November 6th and will be handed their awards. Again, feel free to reach out for questions.
Jr. Leader Halloween Party
Attention Jr. Leaders Only: You are invited to a Halloween Party on October 23rd!

Peewee Dog Showmanship
On Saturday, October 8th, the Cornhusker Kennel Club is offering a FREE Pee Wee Showmanship class as part of their Conformation, Obedience and Rally Show at the Lancaster Event Center - October 7,8 &9. Additionally, several dog breed clubs are having events concurrent with the all-breed show(Boxers, Borzois, Terriers, Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs).
Dogs must be AKC registered and handlers must be 9 years old or younger accompanied by a parent to enter the Pee Wee show on Saturday. When the schedule is finalized, the details will be here under "judging program": http://www.onofrio.com/execpgm/fndindex...
AKC registration form is attached, registering dog is free for 4H youth!
Bring your own chairs. Plus 4Hers are invited to be assistant ring stewards and there is an Obedience and Rally trial going on at the same time as the all-breed show.

4-H Canine Good Citizen & Trick Dog Certification
We will be having a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Trick Dog Certification Day in the animal science complex in Lincoln, NE on Saturday, October 15th. Usually these certifications require a fee for each dog but due to a generous approved evaluator and volunteer, fees are only $5 per dog for 4-H youth!
We ask people that are interested, to register. This will allow us to know approximately how many youths plan on coming. Payment can be due the day of the event
-Youth can bring multiple dogs if they feel that they are ready (4-H Vaccination forms are required)

Beth Janning
4-H Youth Development Extension Educator in Adams/Webster Counties
Beth Janning is a 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator. She provides programming in school enrichment, after-school, and traditional 4-H Programs. Her topic areas include but not limited to animal science, science, engineering and volunteer development.

Dr. Lindsay Waechter-Mead
Beef Systems Educator, DVM
Lindsay Waechter-Mead is the new Beef Systems Educator in Webster County and serves surrounding counties in this region. She is excited to bring her interests surrounding cow/calf health and preventative medicine to the Beef Team. Her current work involves looking at environmental effects on neonatal calf immunity and colostral transfer. She is also passionate about rural agriculture and what the veterinary profession can do to positively influence rural communities to ensure that generations can continue to enjoy the life that she loves.
