2020-2021 School Year
The statement from State Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor:
“The closure of school buildings does not mean the end of services to children. The Department of Public Instruction remains committed to supporting schools and districts as they continue to care for their students, advance continuity of learning, provide meals for students, plan for the remainder of the year, and begin to plan for summer school opportunities and next fall due to COVID-19.”
Given the uncertainty of what the coming months will look like, administration is preparing for a variety of school scenarios that allow us to keep our highest priorities front and center. Planning early gives us the ability to adjust as things change and we receive more answers and guidance from both national and local authorities.
We appreciate your patience and we will continue to communicate with you throughout the summer. Stay well- Erin and Sara Jane

The National Center Pyramid Model Innovations
We know the critical importance of relationships and the strategies for building relationships with families and children. We know the value of a predictable routine and how to establish routines to support children to understand expectations and cope with challenges. We are skilled at helping children with self-regulation, problem-solving, expressing and understanding emotions, and social interactions. We have the knowledge and skills to understand child challenging behavior and guide the implementation of strategies and supports to help children learn new ways to communicate and cope.
NCPMI has developed several products to help us guide families during stay at home restrictions. We hope that some of these resources can help children who are feeling anxious or are having difficulty regulating strong emotions. Check out some new resources in the NCPMI Resource Library.

SUMMER EXCEL 2020
Dear Families,
As you likely know, we will not be having our Summer Excel program this year due to the challenges presented by Covid-19. However, we would like to learn if you have any interest in having your child participate in online summer activities designed to provide some academic support.
We are not sure if we will be able to support summer activities. However, to inform planning, we would like to understand your interest level. We will make a decision about our plans very soon and appreciate your input!
If you have a child in your household entering 1st-8th grade, please fill out this short survey linked here to let us know your thoughts. There is no Summer Excel option for 4K students.
Thank you,
SASD Administration
