OUUC Weekly Update 5-3-22
News from the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation
Worship Service May 8 at 10:00 am - online and in-person
“There is Suffering” - Rev. Mary Gear
This service explores the topic of suffering, requested by the person who purchased the sermon offered by Rev. Mary in the 2021 auction. Do people choose to suffer? Does spiritual practice relieve suffering? Is suffering redemptive? And we honor all who mother on this Mother’s Day. (Perhaps those topics are related.)

Are you longing to worship with other people but not quite ready to be inside? There's an alternative! A watch party outside at OUUC! Gather on the patio at OUUC with others to watch the service on a screen together. We'll put tables and chairs on the patio near the Commons and you can sit together to watch the service. We'll have a canopy ready in case it's needed.
We hope to see you soon!

Celebrate - May 22!
Our very own Lead for the Community and Faith Development Ministry and beloved OUUC DRE, Sara Lewis was ordained as an Interfaith Chaplain by The Chaplaincy Institute. On the afternoon of May 22, between 2:00 and 4:00 pm, come applaud Rev. Sara for her success and thank her for her dedication to OUUC. There will be cake, a basket for you to leave congratulatory cards in, and, at 3:00 pm, a special presentation of gifts from Sara’s co-workers and the Congregation. The event will be held outside, weather and pandemic permitting.
Bicycle Challenge
It's time for the May Intercity Transit Bicycle Community Challenge! Time to get on those bikes and ride to work, do errands, for recreation, for health, or just because it's a beautiful Spring day!

A Good Start on the Time Capsule
Thanks to everyone that turned out to contribute flags, mementos, and videos to the OUUC Time Capsule on Sunday afternoon. We have made a really good start on assembling material for Rev. Mary's installation in June and for the future, 2032, at OUUC.
If you were unable to join us, be of good cheer! There will be opportunities to contribute later this month. Keep an eye out for more news!
