Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year
Mrs. Gina Garland's Class
Meet Your Teacher: Gina Garland
Also, I am happy to announce that even though the EA's closed, we have developed a new opportunity for families to remain and be in community with each other through weekly events and gatherings. It is called Community Connections and I will be working closely with coordinators in OC and LA. More info can be found below.
A Little About Me:
I homeschool my own children, Jordan and Sofie, who are in middle school. It has been a great challenge but worth it! My husband, Andrew, and I have been married for 23 years and he is a senior pastor at a church in Huntington Beach. We live in Garden Grove and love our neighborhood! I enjoy creating, cooking/baking, being with my family, reading, and being in nature.
Requirements for Each Learning Period
Meeting
I will meet with you and your student(s) approximately once per month. These meetings are a time to get to know each other and share the work and progress your child(ren) are making throughout the school year. I am there to answer questions, address concerns, and offer support. This will be a time where student work samples will be collected as well.
Student Work
Student work samples are required for each learning period to represent what your child has been working on and to verify monthly attendance.
TK-8th Grade: Your HST will select one work sample from either Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies each Learning Period.
High School: Your HST will collect one work sample from each course you are currently enrolled in, including electives.
Attendance
Final attendance with signature and date is due on the last day of the learning period. Thank you for making every effort to complete your attendance on time! If you have not yet received information on logging into your Parent Portal, let me know.
Instructional funds can be used to purchase curriculum, educational supplies and pay for educational activities and enrichment to expand student knowledge and experiences. Visit the FAQ about the EOS (Enrichment Ordering System) for more information.
Any unused funds from the previous year can be used over the summer or will roll over into your account.
Please refer to our updated Enrichment Timeline and Tips for information about funding amounts (Expanded TK included), timelines, and ordering tips.
Instructional funds are allocated so that you can provide enrichment opportunities for your child. Enrichment services and products serve to expand student knowledge and experiences.
Products include, but are not limited to . . . Amazon, field trips, educational games, technology, educational supplemental curriculum, novels that support student educational learning, and materials necessary to support student learning.
Services include, but are not limited to . . . fine art classes, academic extension courses, physical education classes, tutoring from an established business, driver’s education, dance lessons, music lessons or any other service that requires an instructor to student interaction in an in-person setting.
Services are only authorized through Inspire approved vendors.
Please visit the Tech Centre for the technology catalog. Tech Centre requests are made/accepted year-round and are now placed in the Enrichment Ordering System. A request placed now by a family will be fulfilled next school year if they don't have enough funds. The family is contacted again to ensure they still want the order prior to fulfillment next school year.
Please be aware that all non-consumable items are the property of Inspire Charter Schools. If you decide to withdraw from Inspire for any reason, items are due upon the commencement of the checkout process.

Inspire sends required documents within 1 business day.
Vendor returns documents to Inspire.
Vendor is placed on our approved vendor list.

Inspire Lending Libraries have been created as a service to our homeschool families. Lending Libraries give families access to additional hands-on learning resources for free. Similar to the public library system, families can check-out items from any one of our Lending Library locations for a short amount of time. You may request an item online from any one of the libraries and it will be delivered to the Lending Library of your choice!
I Can Statements are simple sentences based on standards and objectives for the grade level, written in student-friendly language. I CAN Statements can assist in goal setting, lesson planning and curriculum selection. They are an excellent resource to celebrate student progress toward achieving grade level standards.

STAR 360
CAASPP
As a public charter school Inspire is required by the state to have 95% of our students in grades 3-8, 11, and 12 participate in CAASPP yearly. We appreciate your participation in state testing in the spring as it has a
big impact on charter renewal. Inspire wants to continue to provide amazing programs and resources to our homeschool families and this is one way you can help us do that!
