Smith Family Newsletter
We believe in the power of school and family partnerships.
Message from Ms. Rivera
I cannot believe we are already in the month of April! Just one more newsletter and then it is off to summer. We are in the final stretch to make our kids progress as much as possible!
Our theme this year has been "Growth," and at the beginning of the year, each team painted a portion of a canvas that was put together into a beautiful work of art. We worked together to get the job done. Just as we did with the paintings, we are all working together to make sure that all students learn at high levels, and that each student grows academically and socially this year. So far, our teams have done a tremendous job, and we could not have done it without you! For this last stretch, help our kids by reading at home each day and working math into your daily lives, even something as simple as skip counting in the car.
Thank you for your continued support! Feel free to contact me for any questions or feedback at drivera@magnoliaisd.org. Let's continue to work together to grow our kids!
PTO News
Thank you to everyone who came out to PTO's Gringo's Spirit Night and to the Mother-Son STEAM and Game Night! We appreciate your support. The next big event is our Spring Carnival on Saturday, April 30th from 12:00 to 4:00 here at Smith Elementary.
Click here to purchase tickets. You can place your name, your child's name, teacher, and grade in the comments section. You can also print out the flyers at the bottom of the newsletter.
Each grade level is also sponsoring a basket that will be auctioned off at the carnival. Click on your grade to sign up to donate an item. Thank you for your help!
April Teacher of the Month
Mrs. Schneider keeps excellent notes on her students and knows each one of them as a learner. She can tell you the strengths, growth areas, and goals of her students, and she is constantly monitoring them to ensure they are making progress. She leads her team in their collaborative meetings, and she asks thoughtful questions to grow her own learning. Congratulations, Mrs. Schneider!
April Paraprofessional of the Month
Every time I see Ms. Rodriguez, she is going above and beyond to help students grow. She consistently pulls small groups in class and works with the teachers to help all learners. We are so glad to have Ms. Rodriguez on our team! Congratulations!

Celebrating Earth
In addition to learning about our resources, we are also participating in a plastic bag collection contest sponsored by HEB. From now until April 29th, we are collecting plastic bags from any store. Whichever school collects the most bags wins a $150 gift card, which will be used to purchase treats for the students! Thank you for helping to make sure those plastic bags get recycled!
