Principal's Message
Dear Wildcats,
Hello October! Congratulations you are now well on your learner's journey with your cohort of Wildcats!
As a community- we have declared our goal to improve on state accountability standards by one letter grade from 70 to 80.
Congratulations friends, we have completed our first deliverable. As a community it was important for us to have clear content objectives and that our students are able to articulate what they are doing in class and why. We are at different levels of implementation, however we continue to give feedback on this to you.
Last week, we were visited by Vivian Pratts and she reminded us about embedding language and literacy across contents. She briefly went over Preview View and Review and demonstrated Project GLAD's Chants to help develop Tier 1,2, and 3 vocabulary. She will be back in late October to visit classroom and give feedback.
Looking ahead into the work we will do for this month:
- Using Data for Goal Setting- Learning by doing, we review MAP for using our data to drive our instruction on October 3rd.
- Common Planning using Backwards Design. Remember we are learning by doing! So, all the learning is hands on and will be directly associated with your scope and sequence. We will dive deeper on October 8th.
- Assessing our Students for the Panorama Survey. We are looking at the week of October 9-12 for grades 3rd-5th. A detailed schedule will be emailed this week.
- Assessing our Students for PSA 1; Rdg, Math, Sci, & Writing: PSA1 2nd-5th are scheduled for the week of October 16th-25th.
- Parent Conferences: You may start scheduling conferences with your parents the entire month of October, however you also have early dismissal on Oct. 18 and 19th for these.
Fun Activities:
- Hispanic Heritage Week: We draw our month to a close by celebrating on Oct. 8-12. October 9: Wear your favorite Latin American Sport Shirt; October 11: Wear your favorite Hispanic Heritage outfit! Prizes to be given away!
- Fall Carnival: Our carnival theme is Unstoppable: Sports Theme! Each team must decide on what sport team they will represent and dress accordingly throughout the day on October 19th. It is tradition! By the way we have prizes to give away for best dressed teams. The prizes will be announced on October 8th during staff development.
- Red Ribbon Week: We celebrate on 22-26th! Look at the calendars for fun daily student and staff activities.
Wildcat Love and respect,
Rachel Martinez
