Dr. Wills' Message

Hello Elementary Families!

Our students and teachers are in full swing in the 3rd nine weeks having already completed 112 days of school! We continue to strive in excellence everyday as we provide an learning environment that encourages students to be thinkers, thus promoting a deeper understanding of concepts. It is an absolute joy to see the smiling faces of students running to class every morning because they can't wait to begin their day. Your dedication as parents shows as you ensure that your child is on time every day and through your support of the work that we do on a daily basis. Our partnership is evident when the FSUS students demonstrate their learning with skill and confidence. We appreciate and need your involvement!

Our elementary students have been soaring academically both in the classroom and through their participation in Mini Mu and as a NEHS member. Through their membership in NEHS and K-Kids, they have learned about participating in community service. They have also demonstrated their athletic talents as members of the Elementary Striders Track and Field team and the Wresting team. Student's musical talents have been showcased through their participation in the Singing Seminoles.

FSA Assessments

As we enter the Spring semester, we continue to prepare our students for the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA). Grades 4 and 5 are scheduled to take the paper-based writing portion of the ELA assessment on March 1, 2016. Parents may assist students for the assessment by reviewing information found at the link below:

FSUS Accreditation

This week as a part of FSUS' accreditation review, we welcomed the AdvancED accreditation team to our campus to showcase the work that we do and discuss our goals for continuous improvement. As a part of the process, both internal and external reviews were conducted which included interviews with students, parents, faculty and administration. We are so appreciative of the many members of our FSUS community who contributed to making this review process a success!

STEAM Festival

The first FSUS K-12 STEAM festival is scheduled for February 19, 2016. The STEAM planning committee have been diligently working to create a fun and creative day of events. The campus will be buzzing with guest presenters from FSU, FAMU, the Challenger Museum as well as many others throughout the community. Students will experience interactive presentations in science, technology, engineering, arts and math throughout the day. Check out our STEAM day shout out on the iDigBio website!
