Bennett Peek of the Week
September 20th - September 24th
The mission of Bennett Elementary School
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22ND
4th-5th Grade Cross Country
Tardies/Absences/Appointments
Tardies: Our first bell rings at 7:57am. This is the time when students are allowed to go to their lockers and inside their classrooms. Students must be in their classrooms by 8:12. The time from 7:57 to 8:12 is important for organizing and preparing for the day. It is important for all of our students to be on time…meaning in the classroom and ready to learn at 8:12.
Absences: If your child will not be in school, please call our office staff at 446-4000. If we do not hear from you, our office will be calling to check the whereabouts of your child. Your child’s safety is always our number one concern. Being on time and having good attendance is crucial for learning. When a child is habitually absent/tardy, there is a negative impact on learning.
Appointments: If you need to pick up your child during the day, please come to the office to sign them out. The office will call him/her out of their classroom.
WALK-A-THON

Health & Safety Update- MacKenzie McCormick- FPS Coordinator of Safety & Emergency Management
The 2021-2022 school year has officially begun and Fargo Public Schools is excited to have students in their buildings every day. With the COVID-19 Delta variant showing an increase in cases in the Fargo-Moorhead area, FPS is monitoring cases and close contacts. The goal of FPS is to keep students and staff safe, healthy, and in school. With this goal in mind, there are a few options to remain in school if you or your student becomes a close contact to an individual testing positive for COVID-19. To qualify for the following options, the close contact must remain asymptomatic. If the close contact is having symptoms, it is recommended that the individual gets tested for COVID-19 and remains home until they no longer have symptoms.
Mask-to-Mask
If the COVID-19 positive individual and the close contact are both correctly wearing an approved face mask, the close contact does not need to quarantine. The close contact should monitor themselves for symptoms.
Vaccination
If the close contact is fully vaccinated at the time of exposure to the positive individual, which is defined as 14 days past the final dose of the vaccine, the close contact is not required to quarantine. This rule remains in effect for close contacts in household settings as well. The vaccinated close contact should monitor themselves for symptoms. Students who are fully vaccinated can upload their vaccine cards into PowerSchool to use this quarantine exemption.
Unmasked
If either or both the COVID-19 positive individual and the close contact were unmasked, the close contact has the following options available.
● Symptomatic: If the close contact is experiencing symptoms, the close contact is to remain home, only leaving to get tested for COVID-19, for 14 days following the exposure to the COVID-19 positive individual. If this is a household exposure, the COVID-19 positive individual must be no longer infectious before the close contact’s 14 days can begin.
● Asymptomatic:
1. No Test: If the asymptomatic close contact does not want to test for COVID-19, they are to remain home in quarantine, only leaving to receive medical care or get tested, for 10 days from the date of last exposure to the COVID-19 positive individual. If this is a household exposure, the COVID-19 positive individual must be no longer infectious before the close contact’s 10 days can begin.
2. Willing to Test Once: If the asymptomatic close contact is willing to test, they can quarantine and test on day 5 or later from last exposure to the COVID-19 positive individual and return to school on day 8. If this is a household exposure, the COVID19 positive individual must be no longer infectious before the close contact’s 5 days can begin.
3. Willing to Test Multiple Times: If the asymptomatic close contact is willing to submit to the FPS testing program* and test at least every other day through day 7, the close contact can remain in school and not quarantine unless they test positive.
Students willing to submit to the FPS testing program* to remain in school can have their consent form filled out in PowerSchool.
*The FPS Testing program is currently being created. Until this is up and running at our buildings, students and staff can get tested at the Fargo Cass Public Health testing site, or their healthcare provider. Negative test results must be submitted to the school in order to remain in school.
Written Notification of School Accountability Report

Transparency to the Public
North Dakota is committed to informing communities about how well our schools are doing. North Dakota’s future success depends on tapping into the potential of all students so that they graduate choice ready with the knowledge, skills, and disposition to be successful. State education departments are required to annually create an accountability report for every public school in the state. The school accountability reports outline how schools are performing on the accountability elements North Dakota selected within its ESSA plan.
How is our School Doing?
To find out more information about our School Accountability Report, visit the dashboard at https://insights.nd.gov/, select “Find My School”, and search alphabetically for our school. The school accountability report is posted under the Dashboard heading. Please note, the data made available to the public masks or hides data for groups with 10 or fewer students to protect confidential information about individual students. Therefore, if data is not available to less than 10 students, it will say “no data available”.
Family Engagement
We have strong plans for working to improve the educational programs at our school. We would like you and your child(ren) to continue to be active participants in our educational system. Please help support our high expectations for student achievement by participating in the school educational initiatives, offering input and support in our endeavors to raise student achievement, or volunteering at the school. Meeting our school’s goals will take a united effort, and I look forward to working with our families to ensure success for each student.
Continuous Improvement
All schools engage in continuous improvement for general support; therefore, our school has completed a continuous improvement plan through Cognia (formerly AdvancED). As part of the overall school improvement plan, a strategy map is generated for each school. Our strategy map, outlining our key school improvement initiatives, is available on the Insights Dashboard.
Bennett has a student membership count of 643, and it is not a participating Title I school.
If you have any questions regarding the information in the memorandum, please contact the school at (701) 446-4000.
