Third Grade News

Third grade students enjoyed a field trip in our local community on May 13. At the Huntingburg City Office they met Mayor Denny Spinner and several city office workers. They had the opportunity to explore and learn about a fire truck, ambulance, police car, and the city transit van. The rescue workers and van drivers answered lots of questions and impressed students with the equipment and their knowledge.

At the Huntingburg City Park students met park foreman Dale Payne and learned about the history of League Stadium. It was a thrill to run the base lines that Southridge Raider and Dubois County Bomber baseball players run in their games!

After a picnic lunch in the main shelter house, students enjoyed recess on the park playground.

Mrs. Kappner’s class conducted four experiments with sound. We compared the strength of sound as it traveled through matter, observed vibrations caused a tuning fork, heard sound waves as they traveled through a string, and used vibration to make wax paper kazoos. What a fun way to learn science!
