May 2nd - 6th: Teacher Appreciation Week!

Thank you for everything that you do for our children! As we dive into this week, please know that our students, our families, and your colleagues admire and appreciate you for your commitment and dedication to our students. I hope that you have a wonderful week and enjoy the treats.

Month of Mary

The month of May is the month dedicated to honoring Our Lady. Here is a link to more information. Just a few of the things that you might notice around school will include May Crowning this week at Mass and student led decade of the rosary over the loudspeaker during morning announcements: May 11 (student nominated by Olson), May 18 (Nelson), May 18 (Nelson), May 20 (White), May 25 (Kinyon)

Our School Goals

  1. 100% of our students will grow in the areas of Math and Reading
  2. 10% increase in advanced and proficient rating on state testing

Week of May 2nd - 6th

8th Grade teachers assist in the cafeteria in the morning this week. Thank you!

Team Meetings this Week: Title Services for 16-17 (odd timing, I know, but this is due at the end of this week in order for students to qualify for services for next school year and this will help drive the scheduling process as well) - we will look at the following:

  • Eligibility and criteria for title services
  • Ranking our students (most need to least need)

Monday, May 2nd (Gold B Day)

  • Staff Dress Day: 80's Day
  • Forward Exam make up testing - students will receive passes to come test
  • Mr. Rodrigo Pertierra de Rojas, our building sub for the rest of 15-16, starts today. Mr. Pertierra de Rojas will be shadowing teachers for today to learn more about our students and our building.
  • 7th Grade Meeting
  • Elective Meeting

Tuesday, May 3rd (Black A Day)

  • Staff Dress Day: Beach Day (think sundresses, Hawaiian shirt, flip flops)
  • 7th Grade Forward Exam testing starts. Link to our Forward testing schedule. Elective and 8th grade team: Please note that 7th and 8th grade swap electives on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. 7th Grade class schedule is also included in that link as well.
  • Petersen out of building after noon, Deutsch on call
  • Chipotle is giving all teachers and school staff a buy-one, get-one burrito/bowls/salad/tacos deal today in honor of teacher appreciation week. Bring your SAS ID badge to any Chipotle today from 3pm - close.

Wednesday, May 4th (Maroon B Day)

  • Staff Dress Day: Sports Day
  • 7th Grade Forward Exam testing continues
  • 8-12 Petersen at arch
  • 8th Grade Meeting
  • 5pm DC Send off potluck

Thursday, May 5th (Gold A Day)

  • Staff Dress Day: Dress like a retail/store chain (example: Lowes - blue top, Target - red top, khakis, Best Buy - blue top, khakis, Walmart, etc... bonus points for name tags and pieces of flair)
  • 8am Mass
  • 7th Grade Forward Exam testing continues
  • 2:30pm PD TBD
  • Altar Server Field Trip to Arch after school

Friday, May 6th (Black B Day)

  • Staff Dress Day: College/Pajama Day (your alumni college sweatshirt/shirt/sweatpants)

Graduation Dates

  • May 10th - 8th Grade graduation meeting for parents at 8:00am and 2:30pm
  • UPDATED June 6th - Graduation Mass at 6pm at St. Anthony Church at 6pm - All 8th grade homerooms teachers should plan on attending, though all teachers are welcome to join us as we celebrate our students!
  • June 8th - Breakfast and Award Ceremony
  • June 8th - Early dismissal for 8th grade students only
  • June 8th - Graduation at 6pm at St. Anthony HS - All MS teachers should plan on arriving at 5:15 to both assist with graduation and also to celebrate our students.
  • June 9th - Last day of school for 6th and 7th grade students
