Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update
November 28, 2022
Dear Eagle Canyon Families,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break with your family and friends. Isn't it crazy how fast a week goes when you are on vacation?
My vacation started Friday night at the Christmas Tree lighting, where our Eagle Canyon choir students entertained the crowd with festive tunes. They also had the opportunity to ride in the train with Buddy the Elf and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Thank you, Mrs. Gire, for allowing our students to showcase their talents. It was too much fun!
The time between now and the winter break is filled with so much to look forward to at Eagle Canyon. We are hosting our first winter concert, an Elf performance, and a toy drive to help local families. Read the daily bulletin linked below to avoid missing out on anything.
SIXTH GRADE PARENTS
If your child attends Eagle Canyon on a transfer, you must submit a new request for a transfer if you want your child to attend Canyon Hills. The window is currently open. Please get in touch with the Student Support Services office for additional information.
MANDARIN BILINGUAL CLERK
Eagle Canyon will hire a bilingual clerk to work 3.5 hours per day. If you can read and write in Mandarin and would like to work for CVUSD, be on the lookout for the Edjoin.com posting for a bilingual clerk position.
TARDY STUDENTS
As a reminder, students can go to the amphitheater or eat breakfast in the MPR at 7:20 am. Students who arrive after 7:50 am are considered tardy. Please plan to arrive early to avoid missing out on daily instruction. Traffic from 7:35 - 7:45 a.m. is pretty light, so you may want to try to arrive around this time.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Bearden

TRAFFIC CONCERNS
I continue to receive reports that cars are not waiting in line on Chino Avenue to turn right onto Eagle Canyon Drive. Instead, they are cutting in front of cars to make a right from the outer lane. This action caused an accident in the past and could have resulted in serious injury.
Additionally, I am noticing more and more cars making a U-Turn in front of the school. There are signs in front of the school to let people know we are not allowed to make U-Turns. This creates an unsafe situation for cars driving in front of the school.
Finally, people are not crossing Eagle Canyon Drive at the crosswalks. Not only is your safety our concern, but traffic gets held up while cars are waiting for the people to cross. Please keep yourself and your children safe by utilizing the crosswalks with our crossing guards.
We must work together to ensure 700 people arrive and dismiss Eagle Canyon safely on a daily basis. Please follow all traffic rules, plan your route so you can get to school without any concern for the time, and treat each other with respect.
For your planning purposes, we do open the gate at 7:20 a.m. to the students. Ms. Beatrice takes the students into the amphitheater until the 7:40 bell rings. Then the teachers are on duty until the 7:47 a.m. bell rings which is the signal for all students to go to class.
I know schedules are tight and morning routines can be hectic. Practicing safe habits with your children will teach them how to be safe when you are not around.

Support Eagle Canyon
A popular fundraising opportunity all families can support is Box Tops. Download the Box Top app on your phone. You must scan your receipts on the Box Top app within 14 days of the purchase. The app will let you know if any purchased items qualify to earn 10 cents per product. If there are no items, you will still be able to enter the sweepstakes to win 500 bonus Box Tops. Every receipt has the potential to earn our school money.
As of today, our school has earned $82.80. Our goal is to earn $1,000.00. If you also get the coupons, please turn them in to the school office. Thank you in advance for your support!
