Healing Heroes Network, Florida
Healing Heroes Network Facts and Figures
What is this?
Healing Heroes Network is a charity that provides medical and financial assistance to US soldiers that were wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan since 2001. They receive funding from donors, and have a large network of medical professionals all over America.
What do they do?
The network helps injured soldiers to get quality care and treatment when they return from the line of duty. Not all injuries are covered by the US Department of Veteran Affairs, and some are desperately in need of treatment. This is where Healing Heroes Network steps in, providing these war heroes with advice, financial assistance for their treatment as well as financial support for their families.
Since 2008, the network has provided brave soldiers with thousands of therapeutic treatments, such as massage therapy, acupuncture, oxygen therapy and counseling.
Heroes Network aims to increase awareness by reaching out to communities, and educating people about these many injuries that soldiers suffer from, that they are unable to get medical treatment for, and therefore unable to return to a normal life.
What injuries do they help?
The main two injuries that Healing Heroes Network provides financial aid for are Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). These two injuries are extremely serious and are often unavailable, delayed or not covered by the US Department of Veteran Affairs.
Do they do anything else?
The network hosts the Healing Heroes Freedom Fest yearly in Florida, to fundraise in support of the charity.
Since 2011, the network has run their Harleys for Heroes sweepstakes, where participants donate in exchange for being put in a draw where the winner can win a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a year’s supply of gasoline.
Healing Heroes Network runs three programs that wounded veterans can apply for:
The Healing Heroes program, which provides financial assistance to veterans in need of treatments and services.
The Welcome Home, Hero program helps soldiers and their families by providing financial aid for necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.
The Tablets for Heroes program that provides tablet computers to injured soldiers to help them to become more self-sufficient and stay in touch with family and doctors, as symptoms of PTSD and TBI can include forgetfulness and disorientation.
Through these programs, Healing Heroes network hopes to help the brave heroes that have risked their lives to get better and return to normal life.
