This Week in Writing
Students brainstormed ideas for their own opinion essay. They began applying the writing process to their topic. We even had time for a short pro/con debate on one of the topics.
This Week in Reading
Next week, students will choose their own book and have a book club with a small group.
This Week in Unit Studies: Science
Science: Matter and Energy in Ecosystems
Important vocabulary: decomposer, competition, prey
With testing, we only had 2 days of Science. We focused on the food web. Students drew a food web and we discussed how complex they are.
How to Help Your 5th Grader at Home
- Zearn, Quill or Boddle are 3 different programs that your child can use to practice math and grammar skills from this year and beyond. Students have their own log in information.
Character Trait
- The character trait for April is Empathy . We will be discussing and focusing on this trait throughout the month. Your child received a bingo card with ideas to help accomplish this trait. Turn in completed and signed bingo cards to Mrs. Gaule to be entered into the drawing.
