OLMP Program Highlight
The OLMP foods program has been run by Mr. Reinhart since he started working at OLMP in 2006. With seven workstations in the lab, students at all grade levels are able to work in small groups with the opportunity to learn a variety of skills.
The Foods lab program has grown greatly over the years through the help of Parent Council. They have provided the program with funds to help offset costs for kitchen tools such as, stand mixers, high powered blenders, chopping knives, and various other specialty tools.
The foods lab is always a positive learning environment where students can learn and grow from their mistakes. They also have the opportunity to feel a sense of accomplishment each class once their food has been prepared and ready to eat.
Middle School- Grade 5 and 6 Foods
These students learn to safely use kitchen tools, along with figuring out different cooking measurements associated with cooking. Many of the recipes used are designed for the kids to be able to do at home with minimal help.
Middle School- Grade 7 and 8 Foods
These students learn to safely use kitchen tools, along with figuring out different cooking measurements associated with cooking. Many of the recipes used focus on making items from scratch and are designed to be done at home with minimal help.
High School Foods- Grade 9 - 12
Foods 10, 20 and 30 students work on a wide variety of projects based on Foods Basics prerequisite course. Students will focus on different baking techniques, along with different varieties of meat and meat cookery methods.
