Mrs. Reeg's Math Class News
Week of May 2, 2016
This Week In Math:
This past week we converted like measurement units within a given measurement system. Students also had some fun searching our classroom for shapes using given clues. They took a photo of the shape with an iPad and then animated it using the app called Chatterpix Kids. We will be using this app as part of our final math project. Over the next two weeks students will complete a coordinate grid city. They will name their city and give it a theme. All the street names, buildings, park and attraction names must correlate with their theme. After they map out their city on coordinate grid paper, they will use the app Chatterpix Kids to animate it and bring it to life. This project will be completed within class time and should not need to be taken home as homework.
Field Day is Tuesday, May 10th
This year, Field Day will be Olympic-themed. The students created country names and colors to represent their "country". Students are encouraged to wear these colors on Tuesday. The country names and colors for 5th grade are:
Reegmerica - Blue & Green
Levkulichia - Black & Purple
Hardenslovokia - Green & Purple
Art Museum Field Trip
Our field trip to the Art Museum will take place on Wednesday, May 18th. We will be leaving school at 9:10 am and return around 2:20 pm. Students need to pack a brown bag lunch and wear comfortable shoes. Students will also be wearing their tie dye shirts that day. They will receive their shirt on the morning of the field trip to change into.
