Rocking With Rubrics
Location: Leadership Academy S (1.164)
We all know that rubrics make learning targets clear to students, assist them in self-evaluation, and improve quality of work. The real question is: Where do you find the time to create all these rubrics? Come rock out some rubrics with your colleagues. We will briefly review some basics, share ideas, and best of all have plenty of work time to create a meaningful learning tool that will enhance your lessons. Be aware that I am a newbie at pervasively using this tool in class. I will be learning along with all of you and look forward to sharing ideas you have about rubrics in the classroom.
Blogging Across the 3rd Dimension
Location: Professional Learning Room 1 (1.143)
Are you curious about helping your students to develop their ONLINE VOICES? Come and explore the blogging process. During our working session, you will learn: 1- how engaging in written conversations can be fun 2- how to set up your own Kidblog account. You will leave with some ideas to help you effectively implement the blogging process in your own classroom. Please bring your laptop to this session.
Supporting Struggling Mathematicians
Location: Mrs. Davis's classroom (1.154)
Do you have any math students who are struggling to meet grade level standards? Come learn how to use Marilyn Burns' Math Reasoning Inventory to diagnose issues and learn strategies to help these friends be more successful in your classroom!
STEM Integration Across the Curriculum
Location: STEM Specials room
Do you want to incorporate more STEM opportunities in your regular classroom activities? Come discuss ways to seamlessly integrate STEM and engage your students in higher level thinking activities. Spend time creating a plan that you can use in your room right away with resources and support along the way. Come "STEM It Up" with me!
Getting Started with PBL
Location: Lab C
Project-Based Learning (PBL) naturally lends itself to differentiated instruction. By design, it is student-centered, student-driven and gives space for teachers to meet the needs of students in a variety of ways. We will look at ways to get started incorporating PBL into your daily routine.
How Do I Differentiate for my High Achievers?
Location: Newton's classroom (1.153)
Do you feel that you aren’t doing enough to meet the needs of your higher level learners? This session will give you a refresher on a variety of differentiation techniques that can be used immediately in your classroom. Bring a lesson that you will be teaching to work on an extension for your high level learners.
Differentiating in Reading Instruction
Location: Looney's classroom (1.158, beside Davis)
What do I do? Where do I start to find a way to reach this student that doesn't want to read? What skills target where this student is as a reader? Need some tricks for your bag? Come on in and let's share the best ideas!
Google Drive: Collaboration at High Speed
Location: Professional Learning Room 2 (1.154)
Looking for ways to harness the power of cloud storage and collaboration with both your colleagues and your students? We will dig in to commenting, sharing, and making docs work for you, as well as explore ideas for student video and collaboration through Google Drive.
