The myths
There are two myths, one is about the jealous wife of Zeus, Hera, turning the mother of Arcas into a bear. Arcas was hunting and saw his mother(transformed into a bear)and attempted to kill her, but Zeus rescued her and put them both in the sky as Ursa Major and Bootes. Icarius, who was schooled as a grape maker and a wine maker from Dionysus. He was known for making very strong wine that they appeared poisoned, which caused shephards to avenge their supposedley poisoned friends by killing Icarius. Maera, Icarius's dog, Brought his daughter, Erigone, to her fathers body, where they both commited suicide. Zeus chose to honor all three of them by putting them in the sky as constellations:Icarius as Bootes, Erigone as Virgo, and Maera as Canis Major and Canis Minor.
