STUDENTS

Students can see their counselor at the following times:

  • Before school
  • During their lunch
  • After school

**For an immediate personal need and/or responsive services, students may be seen right away.**

12TH GRADE GUIDANCE

  • Monday 9/10 & Tuesday 9/11 during Gov/Eco classes
  • Counselors will meet with seniors to discuss planning for graduation, how to prepare for post-secondary opportunities, and using campus resources such as the College & Career Center.

9TH GRADE GUIDANCE

  • Tuesday 9/18 & Thursday 9/20 during World Geography classes
  • Counselors will meet with 9th graders to discuss services available in the Counseling Office, as well as how to plan for a successful school year.

12TH GRADE CONFERENCES - Individual Planning

  • WEEK OF 9/24/18 during English 4 classes
  • Seniors will be able to meet with a counselor in order to review their graduation plan, credits, and plans after high school.

RED RIBBON WEEK 10/22 - 10/26

Red Ribbon Week is a movement that helps to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Students will be able to participate in activities throughout the week.

  • Through individual planning, students able to:

  1. Set challenging educational, career, and personal-social goals.
  2. Make plans for achieving short- and long-term goals.
  3. Analyze their strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Assess their current progress to their goals.
  5. Make decisions that reflect their plans.

RESPONSIVE SERVICES

  • Responsive services are used to help students whose immediate personal concerns or problems put their continued personal-social, career, and/or educational development at risk.
  • The Counseling Department offers individual and/or group counseling as part of responsive services.
  • Responsive services are available through student self-referral, teacher referral, and/or parent referral.
  • Small group counseling topics will vary throughout the year, but can include topics such as self-esteem, grief, and stress management.

SYSTEM SUPPORT

  • System support describes services and management activities which indirectly benefit students.
  • System support can include:

  1. Consultation with teachers
  2. Participation in campus-based school improvement plans

  • The College & Career Center is a resource location designed to help our students and parents towards post-secondary success.
  • Among many services offered at the College & Career Center, students and/or parents are able to:

  1. Receive information and/or register for the SAT or ACT
  2. Obtain current information about colleges, scholarships, military, & the workforce.
  3. Work on college and scholarship applications
  4. Participate in visits from various post-secondary programs (i.e. colleges, technical schools, military)

San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP)


  • The San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) works closely with students to assist in the college application process and providing information on various scholarships in order to help students earn a college degree.
  • A Success Advisor, Mozelle Moreno, is on campus from the SAEP who can assist students and parents on Thursdays in the College & Career Center (E104).
