Personal Safety Program
Dear Parents,
As part of the Central Bucks School District Elementary Health Curriculum, a unit on personal safety is taught to students in grades K-6. The primary purpose of the K-5 program is to make children more aware of sexual abuse by providing them with information appropriate to their age level as well as help them to develop self-protection skills that will make them less vulnerable to exploitation.
Grade 6 teachers address the “Dangerous Stranger” issue taught in grade K-5 using material which is thematically similar to the materials used in the earlier grades. The grade 6 Internet Safety unit is presented in a contemporary manner by utilizing a PowerPoint slide show about internet safety.
A PDF version of the PowerPoints (instructional curriculum) used in the classrooms can be viewed at: http://www.cbsd.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=33541.
Parents may also review the video material included in this curriculum by clicking on the this link : https://sway.com/utApIiaU4Y9yttHD
This program will be taught during the winter months. A note from your child’s teacher will alert you to the specific week that these lessons will be taught. Should you for some reason wish to have their child excused from the program, you should send a written request to the attention of the Principal.
As always, please do not hesitate to call with any questions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Susan L. Salvesen

CB Cares November Asset #26: Caring
Breyna Gommel, AJ Pineno, Kylie Cooke, Rosbin Vicente-Lopez, Cooper Tyksinski , Emily Laphen, Riley Joslin, Riley Smith, and Cara Ricciardi:
This group of 5th graders recognized the impact of Hurricane Matthew on areas of our world, particularly Haiti. They were motivated to respond with the caring act of raising money via a bake sale. These seven students planned and executed the entire event themselves. They brainstormed ideas, presented them to staff and students, recruited bakers, and ran the sale over two days during conferences. This group of students demonstrates Caring in action. They recognized a need, and gave serious thought to how they could help out. Their kind and thoughtful act raised over $300 for Matthew Relief efforts.
Mitten Project
Mitten Project – Helping Doyle Families in Need
Staff and students of Doyle Elementary School are participating in a “Giving Project” again this year. Our goal is to provide food and gifts for Doyle families who need extra support.
Since November 22, you find a display of colorful mittens on the wall inside the main entrance of Doyle. Each mitten describes a special gift for a child or adult who is a recipient of the project.
If your family would like to purchase a gift for this project, please stop in and visit Doyle to select a mitten. After you take a mitten, you should buy the gift item listed, wrap it, and attach the mitten to the gift, so that it can be distributed properly.
All gifts need to be brought to Doyle by
Tuesday, December 13, 2016.
If your family would rather donate a monetary gift, please make checks payable to the Doyle Elementary School Activity Account. This money will be used to purchase extra food items or other gifts, as needed.
Thank you for your support in making an effort to help members of our Doyle community.
If you have any questions, please call Tracy Kowalchick at 267-893-4335.
