Week of February 15, 2021
Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are all enjoying your second three-day weekend in a row! Please remember there is no school on Monday, February 15 as we observe George Washington's Birthday holiday.
We are delighted at the progress toward vaccinating our staff in preparation of school reopening! Please make sure to read the letter from Dr. Rodriguez with details on the current status and plans to return to school. Thank you all for being partners in education during this challenging time. We are Sea Lion Strong!
Packet distribution will be on Tuesday from 8:00-10:00 am and 3:00-5:00 pm and Library Distribution will be from 3:00-5:00.
Have a great week!
Stephanie Monroe, Principal
Mr. J's Academic Coordinator Update
Thank you to everyone that has sent in pictures for the spirit days! This is one way we are trying to maintain connection and community, so it is appreciated. This week is Rainbow/colorful day. Students can dress up their most colorful or rainbow-themed outfit and send them to me to be featured in the Mar Vista News!
Students will be continuing Unit 5 in our language arts curriculum, Benchmark, this week.
The science fair looks quite a bit different this year, and due to the structure of distance learning, it is not being required for 4th-6th graders. It is still encouraged for those students wishing to participate, and they can still submit their projects directly to the county fair this year. You can find more information about that here: https://ca-scc.zfairs.com/?f=760d2abd-97bf-4923-871c-a48fb3af0565
Please note, the deadline for registration is March 1st.
We will have science fair boards for anyone that wishes to participate, please just reach out to me and we can set something up.

Read what teachers are saying...
They purchased Zearn for us and I have to say it has been a HUGE support for my math program. I also appreciate the $400 classroom funds because I have been purchasing chapter book sets for my class. I also really appreciate Ashley continuing on being treasurer with her full time job. -Miss Risa
