St Judes Children's Research Hospital
St. Judes is the only hospital in the world that focuses on the kids with pediatric cancer. It does a lot for the community such as fundraisers and events that help the patients in need. The hospital is effective because over 7,800 patients are seen yearly. St, Judes is mostly funded by the National Cancer Institute.
What is the Issue/Charity that your Charity Supports?
The issue/cause that the charity supports is pediatric cancer. “Cancer is the second leading cause of death among Americans.” (John Gould). In case you don’t know what pediatric cancer it is a disease that is spread among children. Cancer is the result of disordered and disorganized cell growth in the body.(Joyce Tavolacci.) “We are trying to address/solve is to advance cures through research.” (St. Judes Hospital.com) Over 7,800 patients are seen at St. Judes yearly, because of the improvements they are seeing in the children.

How did the Organization Begin and Grow Into What it is Now?
The founder of the St. Judes Hospital is Danny Thomas on February 4, 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee. On the website of St. Judes it states, “ St. Judes was found because of a pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children’s catastrophic diseases.” In the hospital there are basic scientists and physicians to help find the cure for some diseases that they haven’t found and that are deadly for kids. The organization has changed from when it was founded to what it has become today.

What Does Your Chosen Charity do for the Community?
The donation over 95% of there money to finding a cure for cancer. They raise money in donations and fundraisers.(Charity Navigator.com) They also treat diseases such as Brain Tumors,Leukemia, Sickle cell,Solid tumor and marrow bone transplant. Some time the let patients enter a contest to see if they can win a dream home, and the money that people pay to enter the contest they add it to their funds.
How Effective is this Charity in Accomplishing its Goals?
The St Judes Hospital is rated really good by the patients who went to the hospital to get treated or had someone else get treated. The charity is funded because of the donations that people make. The charity spends their money on the research of the treatment so the patients can get better earlier. At St. Judes, they speed up their research so it can go to every other hospital that cures these diseases. St. Judes is the #1 hospital rated for kids with pediatric cancer.
