CONGRATS TO NOLAN!
It is with great pride that we announce that one of our students has been selected to participate in the California Music Educator's Association - North Section (CMEA-NS) Honor Band. To apply, each student had to learn a difficult, pre-selected prepared solo and 3 scales on their instrument, record themselves playing that material, and submit it for consideration. It is a nerve-racking experience! This organization selects the best students from 15 counties in Northern California (grades 6-9) and the competition is tough. Out of all the band students in the north section, typically about 70 are chosen in total. Bidwell submitted 2 auditions, and 1 student was accepted. Please congratulate Nolan McCafferty (Trumpet) on being selected to participate!

iREADY TESTING BEGINS
iReady is an online program that allows educators to assess student skills for both Reading and Math. Students take the Diagnostic test in both areas 3 times per year in order to track their progress. Shortly after a student finishes their diagnostic, their English and Math teachers will give them a score report to take home showing both their current and previous diagnostic score. All students, regardless of their level, are able to access iReady wherever they have an internet-connected device. Through the program, students are given lessons targeted to their individual skill gaps.
Students who score more than 2 grade levels below in both Math and Reading on the diagnostic are assigned an intervention class during Primetime to work on and improve their skills. Students who score more than 2 grade levels below in one or the other are invited to participate in an after school session to work on that area either Monday or Thursday from 2:50-3:50.
6th graders will be testing on January 11th and 12th, 7th graders on January 16th and 17th, and 8th graders on January 18th and 19th. For more information, please contact the main office.
