May 21st Eagle Update
Elginburg & District Public School
Dear Elginburg Families,
I am sure you have mixed emotions about this decision! Taking care of our children 24/7 while working from home is not an easy task. For the introverts among us it is perhaps less painful than for our extroverts. Speaking to my friends, family and colleagues during this time has taught me that we are all dealing with this differently. Some of us feel like home school failures while others love it. Some of us are depressed while others are angry.
I am sure you are seeing similar differences with your children. My 15 year old son thinks he won the jackpot because he loves online learning, while my 11 year old daughter hates everything about being home all day long. We will all get through this but I believe we need to support each other more than ever! We are here for you!
As a school, we hope to keep our Elginburg children engaged with their peers and teachers, through Google Meet, so they don't feel so alone. If you are worried about your child's mental health please contact the school or your child's teacher. We have resources to share with you and can connect you to appropriate people who can help. Keeping our mental health strong is the most important thing during this pandemic.
Prizes for the Spirit Days were mailed out last week!
- Ben and Helena Tripp - Beach Day - won an Avocado Water Toy
- Matilda - Wacky Hair Day - won an iTunes gift card
- Eli and Kenslee - Funky Hat Day - Eli won a funky hat and Kenslee won an iTunes gift card
Everybody won Fancy Outfit Day and Everybody won PJ Day! Great job, Eagles! #Elginburgspirit
Instead of Spirit Days, we are having a VIRTUAL TALENT SHOW for Kindergarten to Grade 8 Students. The Google Form and all the important information is in an article in this newsletter. We can't wait to see the talent!
Graduation is coming up! We will be in touch with parents as soon as we get word about the rules and regulations. I am so sorry it is taking so long but please be assured we will make it memorable!
Please contact me with any questions or concerns,
Virtual Talent Show
We have a very special event coming up - the first ever Elginburg Virtual Talent Show!
Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 are invited to submit a 1 minute (or less) video of a performance or a photograph of an art project. These performances and pictures will be put together into a Talent Show Video to be shared within our school community (via Google Classrooms and YouTube). The video will be uploaded to a school YouTube channel and shared in each Elginburg Google Classroom for families to view at home.
Please note that we can not control if some families share images or video clips to their own social media.
To submit a clip, a parent/guardian must complete the submission form, available at: https://forms.gle/euyv1onhBk73dfEi7
All submissions must be in by Friday, June 5th.
Fancy Outfit Spirit Day!
Too Many Beautiful People!
It was too hard to choose a winner this week! Everyone looked so fancy! Here a sampling of the gorgeous/handsome Eagles at Elginburg! This isn't all of them either!!
Well done, Eagles! #elginburgspirit
I need my indoor shoes!
The Limestone DSB, in colloboration with KFLA Public Health, is currently in the process of developing a safe process/protocol for families to access student belongings from the school should we not re-open to students in June. The process will be shared with families as soon as possible. Until we have a consistent and safe Board-wide process we are unable to accommodate requests to access student items from the building.
Yard Supervisor Jobs Available
We rely on finding people for these positions as it adds extra eyes and ears to our lunchrooms and playgrounds.
Are you moving?
If your child is in Grade 8 you do not need to contact us.
Click this link to order your child's 2019-2020 Yearbook! They will not be handed out until September but what a year to remember!
