Need Something Laminated?
Yes, we will laminate your items for you! All laminating will be done by Mrs. Greenwood or me. Our laminating guidelines are as follows:
- Lamination takes place Monday, Wednesday & Friday
- Place your last name on the back of your items to be laminated
- Paper clip your items together (or place all items in plastic baggie)
- Place your items on the back counter of the break room in media (under your grade level or department sign on wall)
- We laminate items that can be reused (no student worksheets, projects, personal items, etc.)
- Typically items are laminated by the next day, however sometimes we need 2 days
- Your laminated items will be returned to the back counter for you to pick up
- An email will be sent that your laminating is ready for pick up
To make the laminating process go smoothly, we need your help!
- Remove all staples and any other binding materials (except the paper clip holding your items in a stack)
- If possible, avoid posters/papers wider than 25 in.
- Avoid using wax crayons, glitter, raised foam letters or shapes
- Avoid using rubber cement
- Avoid cutting out pieces smaller than palm of your hand if necessary
Thank you!
Media Center Hours
Visiting the Media Center
Media is not part of the special area schedule. It is on a semi-flexible schedule and is voluntary. This means classes do not have a set/assigned day and time each week to come in for a media lesson. The schedule is left open for teachers to sign up for a day/time that fits their needs for that week.
Because we are a large school, the schedule for lessons rotates each week; one week primary teachers receive the schedule to sign up for lessons, then the next week intermediate teachers receive the schedule to sign up for lessons. You will be invited to sign up for a media lesson time slot during your grade level designated week. If it is your grade levels up coming week you will receive an Sign Up Genius email notification with the upcoming week's media schedule late Thursday afternoon. Please make sure to sign up for a lesson time slot a day in advance.
Students are always welcome to visit the media center daily to check out books, take Reading Counts quizzes, and to quietly read. You may send students to the media center in small groups of 4 or less during the school day. Please have students bring their media cards with them as they visit the media center. The card helps as a 'hall pass', with speedier book check out and as 'attendance' if an evacuation is necessary. If you'd prefer to keep your cards in media please email me to let me know.
Reading Counts
- All readers have the opportunity to take a Reading Counts quiz 3 times.
- Because the quizzes assess basic comprehension we ask that students read the entire book before attempting a quiz
- They take the test independently
- They do not use the book to search for answers
- They can take a test in class or in the media center
- There are limited licenses for RC therefore First and Kindergarten are not in RC at this time
- Once 1st and Kg are reading independently and have mastered their sight word lists, teachers can email me names to add to Reading Counts
Students can earn RC Bucks to spend at our Reading Counts Store.
- 1st -2nd- 3rd - for every 5 points students earn 1 RC Bucks
