Midway Mustang Memo
March 2021
Dear Midway Families,
As we enter April, we reflect upon this school year and are grateful for the learning opportunities that all of us--learners of all ages--have been offered. We have been steadfast in our commitment to provide a safe environment of our Midway Family and to continue with quality education and experiences both in person and virtually. We are extremely proud of our district, our school, and our families. This has been quite a year; however, we certainly all agree that we have come through stronger and better. Now we are looking forward to being together again.
The survey for parents regarding next year’s learning environment will go out on Monday, April 12th and will be open until Friday, April 30th. There are some new guidelines for the virtual learning platform--please watch for information that will be posted on our website.
It is also the time of year where parents may submit input regarding their child’s learning style as we make classroom placements for next year. Please remember, characteristics only--do not request a teacher by name. Please click on this link.
On Friday, March 26th, we celebrated our Extraordinary Leadership Models. This ELM Award was presented virtually to our students who were recognized for exhibiting qualities of Leader in Me Habit 5: Seek First to Understand and Then to Be Understood.
Thank you for attending our Academic Student Led Team meetings during the week of March 8th. We are proud of our students as they continue to take ownership of their learning, set their own goals, use strategies and resources to reach or exceed their targets. We had about 50% overall attendance for these meetings.
Third quarter grades are now posted in Parent Portal and Campus Student; login here. Please make sure that you have provided the school with a current email address.
During Spring Break, April 5th through 9th, please take time to disconnect from technology and enjoy connecting as a family. What a wonderful opportunity to visit the library and enjoy a good book! Have a sunny Spring Break and stay safe!
Best wishes and hugs,
Jan Munroe, Daphne Rogers & Jennifer Brown

News from Nurse Berry
Hard to believe we will be having spring break soon and the end of the year will be fast approaching. With Spring weather comes allergies. Please reference this guide to help determine if it is allergies vs covid 19 symptoms. If your child does suffer from allergies, please consider leaving medication in the clinic to help them stay comfortable though out the school day.
If your child has been exposed to Covid 19 or test positive, please notify the clinic. As always, there is updated information on the school website under the nurse page.

Please have your student check for lost items in Lost and Found, located outside nurse office. There are many water bottles, jackets, coats and more.
Please continue to send your student with a mask or face covering. Thank you!
Counselors Corner
It is with a saddened heart that I inform you that Ms. Driscoll has left Midway Elementary. She is moving to be with her family. We will miss her dearly. I will continue on at Midway as the school counselor for all students as I have in the past.
Spring Break is almost here. It’s important to keep up the good work our students have done this year. One way to keep up the momentum is to have a healthy routine. Pick one of the healthy habits on the card below and work on it together as a family.
Have a safe and relaxing Spring Break,
Dr. Collins
Digital Citizenship Tools for Parents
At Forsyth County Schools, we value the rich learning experiences that technology brings to our classrooms. We believe that our students must be taught how to use online resources responsibly. With parents and guardians as our partners, we can help our students to gain skills, understanding, and mind-sets that will enable them to be responsible and safe in digital environments. Visit this site for information that will help guide you as you parent your child in this digital world.
From the Midway Café
Welcome to Awesome April!! Already we’ve experienced some beautiful weather that has truly lifted my spirit. Just watching everything bloom & come back to life after such a seemingly long winter is bringing such joy to us here in the café. We hope it is to you & your family as well.
April’s Harvests of the Month are strawberries & asparagus. It won’t be long before we can begin enjoying those new crops of fresh strawberries. We have several local farms where they can be purchased. There’s nothing better than farm fresh fruits & veggies! And soooo good for our health! We offer fresh fruits/vegetables at each meal here in the café.
As you know, this year we’ve been able to offer free meals to every student. We want you to know that this offer extends to those that prefer to bring their lunch from home too. Your child may come in and supplement the lunch they’ve brought by choosing at least 3 items from the café. They can choose any 3 (& up to 5) side items on our menu, which includes a milk too if they’d like it. They just come through the line with their classmates that have ordered lunch, we’ll give them a tray and they will go down the line & make their choices then check out with Mrs. Teresa, all for free. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. I’m always here to help!
We hope you enjoy you’re break, enjoy time with family, take any extra time you can & share an extra hug with them. Life is precious & time goes by so quickly…
Love & virtual hugs from our café staff to you and your family!
