December 13, 2019
Colts,
This week we wrap up a "regular" full week schedule as we head in to next week with a couple of half days and semester exams to conclude the first semester. Congratulations to all of our Geography Bee contestants - including our champion, Jonathan and runner-up, Nicole! In addition, the holiday concerts by our Fine-Arts department have been outstanding! Our Colts have represented well and we our very proud of each of them.
Remember, we will be on half day exam schedules on Thursday and Friday with the school day ending at 12:10 on those days. Please have student pick-up plans in place. Buses will be departing following release at 12:10. Please let your Colt know that they should not be crossing Colleyville Blvd. anywhere near the campus since the crosswalks at those intersections near campus are shut down due to construction.
We look forward to finishing out 2019 on a high note at CMS!

Counselor Corner (Week of December 16th - December 20th )
8th GRADE 4 YEAR PLANS ARE FINISHED! - This past week counselors finished entering all 8th grade 4 year plans and endorsements into Skyward. Parents, please log into Skyward and review both the career plan and endorsement chosen by your child and email your child’s counselor before December 18th if you would like to request any changes. Core classes for all 4 years were entered, but electives were only entered for 9th grade. Once you approve of the plan and endorsement, please “e-sign” for both the endorsement and career plan. This requires two separate e-signatures (instructions for e-signing were emailed to all 8th grade parents on Dec. 11th).
We want to emphasize that we are created a “plan” and that the endorsement and 10-12 grade course selections can (and will) be changed throughout high school - we know that it is unlikely that middle school students know what they want to take for all 4 years of high school. It is not necessary to make changes to your child’s 10th-12th grade selections in their plan. The most important thing is that you review the 9th grade core classes and electives because these can not be changed after high school counselors meet with 8th graders on the January 30th.
Students will have a final opportunity to request changes to their plans and endorsements on Jan. 30th, when they meet with their high school counselors.

January 15th - Mustang Nation Showcase at GHS (more info to come).
January 30th - Counselors from both high schools will be back at CMS to meet individually with every student throughout the day. High school counselors will be going over freshman year of four year course requests and alternates to ensure accuracy.

CREDIT BY EXAM - Students in grades 6-12 currently enrolled in the District can receive credit for an academic course or subject area, in which the student has had no prior instruction, with a passing score of 80% or higher on an exam approved by the district’s Board of Trustees. If you would like more information, please see one of the counselors. Registration for the February 8th CBE will be open until noon on January 8th. You can also find more information at CBE.
