Back To School Checklist 2022-2023

August 2nd, 2022

Just 15 Days To Go...

We are quickly approaching the first day of school in DPS 109, so it's time to start making sure you have everything in order to have a successful start to the year.

#1: Get Familiar With Skyward!

Are you new to DPS 109 or haven't used the system in a while? Click the Skyward logo to get login information & watch some handy videos about how to do things like check schedules & pay fees.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CLASS PLACEMENTS!

Class placements are released August 10th in Skyward (also known as Family Access).

A lot of time and consideration is put into class placements between administrators and your child's previous teachers. Class placements are final. Please do not reach out to your building leader to request a change.

#2: Pay your fees!

Fees are posted in Skyward/Family Access! Click the image to refer to our fee page for more information on what the charges are and what the waiver process is.

#3: SHIELD Testing Consent Forms are due by 8/9 if you want to begin the school year testing

NEW IN '22: SHIELD Testing is being offered in an opt-in take-home format! Families that consent to testing will receive materials to complete the saliva testing at home and have their student drop off their completed test at school. More information about how this process works will be shared in an upcoming email from your principal.

If you want your student to participate, fill out the form found in Skyward/Family Access. If you don't, you don't need to fill anything out.

Consent forms to be rostered for take-home SHIELD testing at the start of the school year are due by Tuesday, August 9th.

The first take-home kits are anticipated to be available on Friday, August 26th.

Those that do not consent initially will have another opportunity to join in on the testing process around the end of October.

#4: Sign the handbook acknowledgement form

Our Student/Parent/Guardian Handbook has lots of important information pertaining to your child's time as a DPS 109 student. Click the image to read the handbook and complete the acknowledgement form in Skyward.

#5: Schedule doctor's appointments now so you don't miss the health form deadline!

Health forms for the 2022-2023 school year will be due before you know it. Make your appointments now! Different grades require different forms. Click the image to see what is needed.

#6: Review our directory/publication opt-out forms

DPS 109 has forms if you wish to opt your child out of being listed in the directory and/or being photographed or recorded for DPS 109 publication purposes. Click the buttons below to read the forms. If you wish to complete them, you can turn them in to your child's school or email communications@dps109.org.

What To Expect In The Coming Weeks...

8/10: Messaging Test!

We will be testing your contact info next week on August 10th at 3 p.m. Expect to get an email, text, and robocall from District 109.

Having the right phone number and email for all parents and guardians is extremely important! If you don't receive any of the three messages, log into Skyward Family Access on that day to check your contact info and update it if needed! We will send out info on that day about how to do that.
